I can never find the 'thanks' button....
I am going on holiday shortly to Majorca for 2weeks, which includes my mum of 85. Having phoned about 20 companies in the past, Saga were the best value including my family as well then.
On this occasion however, I phoned Saga and they quoted £192.09p for all of us, but there would be an excess of £50 and they no longer offered an excess waiver for an additional charge. I then phoned 'GO insurance,' who told me they would need to connect me to their subsidiary 'FIT 2 TRAVEL' who deal with upto 90years old. Bearing in mind my mother has glaucoma and had a lung condition, they have quoted all of us £131.40p which INCLUDES an excess waiver.
Now when I compare the policies like for like, they seem identical except that on some things SAGA may be covering slightly higher, but I could argue that sometimes we may be paying too much for what we need?
So I just wonder if anyone else has used 'Fit2travel' and any comments please?
My husband takes medication for high blood pressure and some companies wouldn't include this although to me it is quite a common condition.
I have tried many others as well including Columbus, Churchill, Directline - others I can't remember, so anyone looking for a policy young or old try giving 'go' or 'fit2trave' a call.
HOPE THIS HELPS LYNT AS WELL.
TO Irish eyes, about your camera. My son & husband are keen photographers as well, and all this is covered in our household policy for high value items, so maybe check if you have a policy if it covers you away from your home??? Travel ins. never offers that high, same with jewellery.
NOW WHERE IS THAT ' THANKS' BUTTON........?0 -

NOW WHERE IS THAT ' THANKS' BUTTON........?
When you are reading a post, at the bottom of the box the post is in there are three rectangular blue boxes. The first one has a thumbs up sign and "thanks" written beside it, the second has a paper and pen and "quote" beside it, then the third, smaller one, just has the paper and pen and if you hover your mouse over it it comes up with "quick reply to this message".
Some people sometimes say the thanks button is not there so don't know if that is a blip.
Hope this helps.0 -
IT's worked....but it did say 'edit' on the blue box first, then I clicked it and it changed to 'thanks/thumbs up'.

Yes, the "edit" box is there on posts you have written (I forgot that bit) which is useful if you've written something and want to add a bit more or change something, but it's not there on posts other people have written.
Glad you got it sorted :T0 -
I booked to go to USA in July and have only paid the deposit so far. I am just renewing my annual travel insurance and have realised that when I booked and paid the deposit I only had European cover. Obviously, I am now upgrading to Worldwide cover but does anyone know the implications (if any) of me only having European cover upto now.
Thanks0 -
Well, seeing as nothing has happened to cause you to claim since you've booked your holiday, I should imagine there's nothing to worry about. Just ensure your new worldwide policy is put into effect asap.0

After hours of combing moneysupermarket listings, key facts, policy wordings and medical screenings ...
Many, many thanks to the earlier posters referring to CoverMyTravels - and no, this is NOT spam!
Hubby and I needed a Worldwide Annual Multi trip policy with a long single trip allowance, most common is 31 days which is not enough to go round the world as we plan (we're finally empty nesters so can get back to the travels we'd shelved!)
Found EuropAssistance offered 91 days but wanted over £460 in addition to basic travel premium of approx £160 (sorry, mislaid notes for actual figures) to cover hubby's blood clot history (2 small clots in lungs 6 years ago, cleared within 6 months with warfarin, no problem since)
CoverMyTravels are perfectly happy to insure us for just £138.10, incl excess waiver (tho excl possessions already covered on Contents policy - would be £156.82 with possessions) as clots were dealt with over 5 years ago so no additional premium though still covered. And their single trip is 92 days! Also they are backed by CEGA Assistance for medical emergencies, the only ones, I believe, with their own fleet of air ambulances, which I find reassuring.
So would recommend you at least give them a look, espec for pre-existing conditions. IMHO it's a good deal for so long a trip for a couple of 'oldies'.0 -
Hi, Can anyone advise me of a co that covers ryanair flights being cancelled please?0

Hi
I have read every message left about travel insurance with pre-existing conditions. i still have failed to find anyone to insure us. (and that includes covermytravels, Columbus, saga..)
The reason I am struggling is twofold: my oh has conditions(heart attack 2005, heart bypass 2006, controlled diabetes, cancer 2001) all of which are of no problem to him. he is taking tablets for his heart but just as a prevention.
the other thing is we are going on hols for 127 days...to St Lucia. Which again bumps the price up or makes us uninsurable.
I have applied for a Lloyds TSB Gold account and am hoping that the insurance with that may be a possibility.
Anyone out there got any suggestions please? I'd really appreciate some help.
