My main concern is that he suffers from high blood pressure, and takes tablets for this. Most insurers will not cover existing medical problems.

Any recommendations on who will insure him? Thanks.

    Try Columbus Direct.

oops - just seen they'll have already gone. Still, might help someone else

Anyone know of a company/policy that includes cover for Tesco Clubcard deals ie I have paid part cash, part deals tokens - and I am looking for a policy that would cover the cash and the value of the deals tokens.

I think I read on here that the Tesco policy does but couldn't see it on their site.
The tesco policy is the only one that does i believe, 100%. There has also been talk of travelinsuranceweb covering deals..... but personally im not convinced

Tesco's policy is a bit over-priced, but at least you know the deals element are def covered in the event of cancellation

I can confirm that Travelinsuranceweb will cover (or at least did very recently) you for holidays paid for in part or full by Tesco clubcard vouchers (and also other schemes such as Airmiles) and they will also cover (for an additional premium where appropriate) for many PEMCs (which, I believe the Tesco insurance won't)
  • We're booked on a cruise through Thomas Cook but live in France. We have both English and French bank accounts. Can we take out travel insurance through a UK company declaring our French address, or how would we stand if we gave my parents' address when booking?
  • Does anyone when this part of the website will be updated? It says asap but the page also states it's updated quarterly so not sure when asap is?

    Cheers

I believe that policies with a UK insurance company require you to be a UK resident.

Where can I find a travel insurance policy with:
    (i) No really silly exclusions (see article)
(ii) Reasonable reputation for handling claims
(iii) Fairly competitive price. I appreciate this will not be the cheapest policy available, but on the other hand it should not be that much more expensive.

  • Just signed up for Direct Line Home insurance (good price) and got free travel insurance.
Checked it out and it gives max 45 days worldwide with the usual exclusions for pre treated illness. saved me £90 on multi trip annual for two. It reads in plain english too and they answered my questions immediately i rang them.
  • Cancellation cover

I'm looking to go to australia next year for 60 days, but my wife's mum in terminally ill and may need to cancel the trip at short notice.

Does anyone know of insurance that doesn't have this exclusion for a pre-known illness for a relation.

I certainly don't know of any, but you could try one of the cancer charities to see who they recommend. I doubt you will get cover and if you were lucky enough to find a company without this exclusion, it would be very expensive.

Insurance is to cover unforeseen events and not events you already know about.

Depends where you are planning to travel, when & if you have any PEMC's.

See the Post Office (Fortis Insurance) or Barclays or Direct Line, their claims/customer service seem to be better than most and they tend not to try to get out of paying when a claim is straight forward.
