Can anyone answer this one please? Do they check if you actually made the flight when you put a claim in?

It's a simple what if question - what if I had to make a claim oversees, and had the flight booked but did not get there on that flight eg in someones car instead.

I have a friend who is in her twenties and a few months ago developed colitis. She is travelling to Norway and Mexico soon and needs to get travel insurance - but wants to make sure she will be covered in case the colitis attacks.

Does anyone have any recommendations for insurers who deal in this pre-existing medical condition?

Try the Post Office (Fortis Insurance) they are not the cheapest but the best policy available and after service is great (my opinion).

Hi,i am going to America from the 4th February and returning on the 20th and have no clue where to start with finding suitable travel insurance! Any help? I have pre-exisisting kidney condition which is considered stable.I usually go with nationwide or the post office.

Stay with the Post Office policy (see my above reply)

    Any Advice gladly received.

I've booked return flights from Newcastle - London(Heathrow) - San Francisco with BA for our family 2 Adults and 2 Offspring (Aged 21 & 18).Have yet to book accommodation and car hire for 3 week trip.

I would like recommendations for best VFM policy (Not necessarily the cheapest) to cover Medical/ Emergency- £2million, Personal Liability-£1million and Baggage £1.5k at least. I will also need Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance( SAFI) included if possible.

Does Fortis Insurance/P J Hayman Insurance policies include SAFI?

Also, does SAFI protect you if BA decide to go on strike on our flight dates?

Would be grateful if someone more knowledgeable than me could point me in the right direction.

Those specific questions can ONLY be answered by calling the IC customer service - any one here canm only give opinion and not fact - call the IC and ask - If you have book your flight, have your flight number at hand and check that it is a scheduled flight (you mention BA [Bad attitude!] and if a BA XXX number you should be scheduled - I think).

I like both companies Fortis & P J Hayman they are in the top of my list and way above average after claims service

Thanks Annie - I've been comparing and couldn't find anything as cheap as Atlas for us (2ad 2ch) - thanks for your post!

Please - CHECK THE COVER - I am alwasys suspect of a policy THAT cheap!

Make sure you have the cover you need - going under covered you may as well go without altogether as you may end up paying anyway!

You may be making a fraudulent claim - you are covered for TRAVEL not change of mind. You got to your destination as you chose to go by other means - the car journey was covered instead of the aircraft - It is not like you missed the aircraft or it was delayed or diverted.

Try contacting the airline, some will refund part of your fare for an unused ticket - probably not the budget airline types though.

If you mean you are claiming the £x per 12 hours delay payment, then I'm not sure they do - or that there is any way of them doing so. They may well check that the plane was actually delayed though.

You normally have to have checked in for it before you can claim, so you will be acting fraudulently if you declare you have if you haven't.

It's not a simple question as you have not given us details of the situation.

It really depends on what you are claiming for, if it is a medical claim that happened while your abroad then this would be covered if it's for something else it would really depend on the policy, the circumstances etc etc
