i am looking for insurance to cover me when I am travelling in NZ for a year.
I can't seem to find any comparison sites for 'gap year' travel insurance

Try these - they say they specialise in your type of trip

Short answer - No! == see the Post Office (it really is a good policy) on their site it says about PEMC's
"Before you get travel insurance, you and everybody on the policy must answer 5 questions in our health declaration (this link will open in a new window - pdf 123KB). If the answer is yes to any of these 5 questions, you must call the Post Office® Medical Screening line on 0845 602 5275 and quote scheme code PTS2."

If in doubt with any insurers call them and ask.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

wish the article would talk a bit about travel insurance for cruises for the under 30s which seems to be a bit hard to get - confusing for the newbie to travel insurance.
Go to ask.co.uk and put in "crise insurance" a whole unch comes up.

they have a age group 18 - 49 that should do you!C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

I am on a waiting list for a partial knee replacement and I am going to Vietnam for Christmas. To my horror, I have discovered that AXA, who seem to underwrite most travel insurance, will not cover you for any aspect of medical insurance. I was expecting not to have my knee covered, but they won't insure me at all. Can anyone help me with this? The holiday is for 8 people and fully paid, so cancellation is not an option.0

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows of any travel insurance comparison websites that gives a more detailed overview of the benefits other than medical, cancellation and baggage limits?
The reason for asking is that on another forum, someone ended up having dental treatment in the US for a fairly simple problem, and the costs escalated to over $1,000 - their level of cover on the insurance policy they had was limited to £300.
What I would like to be able to see is a comparison of all the key benefits, or alternatively, be able to do a more advanced search which allows me to enter my own paramaters for level of cover. Using the above example, most of the policies I have looked at so far limit dental cover to £200 with an excess, so I may wish to increase this to £400 for example.

Can someone help me. I went on holiday to Cyprus and on my return flight home Easyjet cancelled my flight till the next day. The following day my flight was delayed and then when i finally got home i realised that half the stuff in my suitcase was stolen. Unfortunately the day after my return to England a close friend was taken very ill in hospital and died a few days later. I wrote a letter to both Easyjet and my insurance company 9 days after my return to England (the day after my friends funeral) and got a response from both companies saying that because i didnt write to them in 7 days they wouldnt be giving me a penny back. Is there anything i can do because i had overr 800 GBP worth of stuff stolen from my suitcase.0

hi looking for a single trip policy for my dad to majorca for one week not sure the amount of cover he needs alll in all in good health but dont wanna come unstuck and a low excess too.0

My parents thought they were both covered with their bank for travel insurance, but the bank have made a mistake and only my Mum is covered. They go away tomorrow so I desparately need to sort something for my Dad (the bank will reimburse the costs so not bothered about the price, will go through Quidco anyway so higher price the better!).
My main concern is that he suffers from high blood pressure, and takes tablets for this. Most insurers will not cover existing medical problems.
Any recommendations on who will insure him? Thanks.0 -
I think Direct Travel Insurance cover high BP for an extra £10 on an annual policy so possibly less on a single trip.
A lot of companies DO cover PEMC, but most charge an extra premium. You shouldn't have any problem getting insurance if that is his only PEMC.0
