  • I`ve just had the results from my blood test and don`t have an under active thyroid everything is normal, does this mean that I don`t have to mention anything to the insurance company?

I would call them and just let them know - It may be that if you have been signed off with no further investigations that they will not be interested, but better be on the safe side.... Also if they say they dont need to know take a note of who you spoke to with the date and approx time of conversation..... again to be on the safe side

Where abouts do Tescos mention they cover cancellation costs for Clubcard vouchers as the policy wording or anything on their website (As far as I can see)

I rang them and they confirmed the policy does cover any Clubcard vouchers.
  • There's a plethora of travel insurance comparison sites out there but the outcome of various searching induces a splitting headache because different companies do fancy foot-work with different aspects of cover in order to fool -- rather than reassure -- the prospective customer.

Here's this brilliant cover from the top-rated Money Supermarket com comparison chart: TopDog Insurance, "Emerald Single Trip", Europe, £9.48p for a couple going for one week's holiday to Majorca, fit, well, happy, no claims ever made of any kind:

£300: up to £300 cover for loss of cash or passport. EXCESS: £200.

£250: up to £250 in emergency dental treatment whilst on holiday. EXCESS: £200.

    Well, how brilliant is that?

Instead of saying, if the worst happens and you lose your cash / passport we'll cover you up to £100, or if you've a dental problem, we'll manage to hand over fifty quid, instead there's all that total b0ll0ck$ about excesses.

This kind of darn-near fraudulent trading really irritates, especially as we're in the middle of deciding whether to go for a renewal of our current annual insurance policy or opt for single trip.

Question: can anyone recommend an insurer -- presumably, NOT the idiotically-named 'TopDog Insurance' -- which offers a fair policy (single trip or multi-trip) for a fair price. . . and isn't land-mined with small-print excess clauses as odious as the examples given above?

I'd rather have no excess at all to find -- what's the point of insuring to a certain level only to find that level doesn't actually exist???? -- but appreciate insurers are badly off and must claw back wherever possible. . . so a reasonable excess, if such there be, would be OK.

    Thanks.
  • Hi

Can anyone recommend a company providing an annual travel policy for worldwide (inc USA) travel that does cover indirect losses as per the main article on this site (link not allowed (even though its a page on this site!!) as I'm a new user) and which covers cash up to at least £750.

    Other essential requirements are:-
    • cancellation cover,
    • baggage cover, and
    • no pandemic exclusion (or at least coverage for swine flu).
Ideal, but not essential, requirements are:-
    • trips up to 30 days at a time
    • single items up to at least £500
    • low excesses (or option for excess waiver)
I've previously asked several brokers, who came up with nothing (well actually 3 did, but they seemed to have a totally different understanding of indirect losses to what is explained on the page on this site (see above link), namely they said indirect losses were standard to most policies, at least for knock-on accommodation costs incurred due to delayed or cancelled flights).

    Thanks
    Dave

wish the article would talk a bit about travel insurance for cruises for the under 30s which seems to be a bit hard to get - confusing for the newbie to travel insurance.

    Hiya,

Have you tried squaremouth? It has an option for student/backpacker policies which might turn something up.

    Hope this helps
