If you take out a single trip policy to cover you for the two weeks beginning in two weeks time the cancellation part of the policy will start as soon as you pay your premium so its advisable to take out cover asap.
If you are taking an annual policy if you want to benefit from the cancellation part simply take cover out as soon as you book.
P.S Do not forget to declare any existing medical conditions for anyone travelling with you and any one your trip depends on eg if you have a parent who is staying at home who has a medical problem. If you do not declare the conditions the Insurers will exclude any claims as a direct result of the condition0 -
Can anyone tell me if I take out a family annual policy if my 2 children 19 (student) and 17 would be covered if they went away on their own.
Thanks0 -
I just purchased a new annual multi trip worldwide inc USA travel insurance with Norwich Union. I followed the very informative thread on here plus Martin's suggestions about best insurance company for trips to USA and my final choice was reduced to a couple of companies which included NU.
I bought one for couple and since my partner has a very mild asthma we decided to call and ask if that was considered as a medical condition. NU said yes and that it was accepted for the policy, although the final price of the policy came up to £158.66.
My question is, is it necessary to pay the extra for something like that when is very mild and doesn't need a medical assistance or the guy from NU simple tried to get a higher commission selling us a more expensive policy? I read in several forums that you could declare the condition but not having it covered which I presume would reduce the cost.

Yes most policied also named children to travel on their own, but you would need to check with the individual policy.
However you will also have to check their definition of "children" which may have an age limit of 18 years.0 -

Yes some companies will give you a policy without cover for a PEMC that you have declared, but it is up to the individual company so you will need to check with NU.0 -

I REALLY need some help and advice.
I need to insure myself for a trip to the USA lasting 64 days. I am female and under 30.
All the basics that Martin mentions in his Travel Insurance section I want to have - medical cover, baggage, cancellation etc. I do not need winter sports or anything hazardous. I thought I found a great deal doing it by Annual Trip but when I looked into it the Annual Trip cover will only cover me for 31 days per holiday and the Single Trip is minimum £98 which is way too much for me sadly.
I am due to fly out in less than 2 weeks and really want to get this sorted asap.
Any and all help would be TRULY appreciated.
Many thanks:rotfl:Ssshh - I might know about deals in/near Keswick0 -
For people with long term conditions, I've used Its So Easy Travel Insurance . Com for the last few years and found them good.0

We have an annual policy with Insure and Go it is due for renewal on 16 May.
Yesterday I went to the doctor who is sending me for a blood test for an under active thyroid! do I have to inform the insurance company, should I wait until I find out whether or not I have one! does an underactive thyroid affect premiums and will the insurance companies cover you?
Sorry, a lot of questions. Usually its straight forward and we tick all the no boxes! just want to do it right.
Any advice would be great. Thanks0 -
Hiya
Underactive thyroid shouldnt cause you any problems with travel insurance & shouldnt cost you any additional premiums. The only issue you may encounter is that it is undiagnosed atm, maybe they will advise you not covered until a firm diagnosis is made
