can anyone recommend a cheap insurance for the family with a wheelchair bound husband, all the ones i have looked at seem so expensive.
We are going on a cruise round the med with the kids in April, (first holiday abroad) but dont want to have to fork out nearly £100 for the insurance.
thanks0 -
I have a specific travel insurance related enquiry, not sure if anyone will be able to help...
I want to take the trans-siberian express from moscow to beijing. To do this you have to "buy" your tickets from russian travel agencies before they actually have them to sell. With the current economic climate I am concerned what would happen if they did go into administration before I received my tickets, and whether any insurance company will insure me in this situation?
Does anyone recommend anyone specifically for this sort of unusual travel?
Thanks in advance0 -
The medical expenses cover using your CapitalOne credit card is £5,000,000.
It seems to be too good to be true. Why isn`t everybody using it?
Wait till you cllaim and the restrictions will tell. Really I work with these claims It can be very bad news if you fail to comply and then you actually do have a pre-existing condition that makes the policy void.

If you already have travel insurance - call your insurers and ask if you are coverd, if you are - no problem. If not look at a reputable insurer and call them first and ask, the one that will cover the tickets is the insurer for you.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Look at it this way - How much is your holiday?
If its £500 the £100 is a lot. - If your holiday costs £5,000 then £100 is great value for money for the protection you get.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

You see the problem is not how much cover it is if you are actually covered - Example you have asthma and you go on holiday with your credit card insurance and you fall ill/have accident. We (the hospital) bill your insurers (not the credit card company they just obtain the insurance they are not the insurance company) and your insurers deny the claim on a pre-existing medical condition that you did not declare befor you travelled.
You may have a policy that has £millions of medical cover but if you do not comply to the insurers conditions guess what, that policy is worth zip!C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Sorry, but this is simply incorrect. It depends on the policy wording. In some cases, failure to declare pre-existings means the whole policy does not apply; in other cases, they simply say you are not covered for any claim attributable to the pre-existing.
Sorry Koru = I was generalizing - I have not in the course of my busines with one of the US' biggest hospital groups, seen every policy ever issued by every insurance company. You know if people like myself listened to people like you who split hairs any posting would be a mile long to cover every little exception to keep people like you (who obviously have read every policy that ever existed) happy!
To clarify for Koru's benefit - MOST policies and I have seen more than a few that have denied in the case I stated - This morning being the last time!
PLEASE BEAR IN MIND - US PEOPLE WHO ATTEMPT TO HELP ACTTUALLT TRY TO KEEP THINGS BREIFC. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Question - "not covered for any claim to the pre-existing" - as you put it probably (PROBABLY as you read my posting litterally) means after you have declared the pre-existing condition.C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

Although mainly Florida – a lot of the info in these postings relate to general Travel Insurance & Medical Issues – worth a read – I may be able to help.
I am an Ex-Pat Brit (Hertfordshire) living and working in Florida. I work for a major Hospital group (7 hospitals and 14 urgent care clinics around the Orlando area) dealing with all you tourists that holiday here and then go home leaving medical bills behind you unpaid.
My job is to track you down and get the bills paid and I deal with UK insurers many times each day. No matter what your horror story is, I’ve heard them all and Brits usually have the same story to tell.
I am officially a Debt Collector, and that usually scares people. Don’t be worried, it is usual business here in Florida to use debt collection agencies. If you get a letter or call from a debt collector remember DO NOT IGNORE THEM – CONTACT THEM IN THE WAY THEY ASK – don’t assume e-mail is ok the privacy laws state we have to have a verbal confirmation or “ink” signature to confirm you are the patient or other person entitled to the information. The law is on their (or their clients) side, and in ANY case YOU the patient, are responsible for your own debts NOT your insurance company.
