My Lloyds platinum current account card covers me and my partner for 45 days and i am going to india for 70 days. I haven't checked yet but i'm guessing that i'll be stung for the increase. Could i just insure with another company for the last 25 days.

You may find that difficult as most (not all) travel insurance policies have a little bit of small print that state "all trips must start and end in the UK" your Lloyds travel policy being one of them. so you may find a company to insure the last 25 days, however the cover for the 45days under your Lloyds policy would become invalid in the event of a claim.

call Lloyds they do have an upgrade to extend trip lenght and compare that to a couple of single trip quotes for the whole of the trip, depending on your health (pre-exsisting medical conditions) you may find the upgrade is cheaper. keep a note of the renewal date for the trip length upgrade though, because all upgrades on Lloyds account policies are done on an annual basis unlike the acual policy that is just ongoing. unless you inform them otherwise at the upgrade renewal date it will renew with the extended trip lenght, however they do send a letter inthe post when it is due to remind there customers.

thanks but they state on their site
For this reason we are unable to offer cover to customers with pre-existing medical conditions.

These guys are known to offer travel insurance with pre existing medical conditions. The site looks a bit tired but they seem comprehensive, they offer annual cover upto to 70 something years old

    Edit:

    Gocat:

Looks like they also specialise in over 65 travel insurance

    Thanks LA.

They are not off to Ibiza, they will be going to the US. Do you know which companies will cover a 16 year old alone?

Most insurers will cover this - You are probably misleading by saying they are "travelling alone" ask the insurers for a policy that you can take out on your child that will cover them travelling with a chaperone not alone.

I'm looking for Annual, Wordlwide travel insurance for my parents, who are 70 and 72 years old. I read the main MSE article on cutting travel insurance costs, followed the link to Moneysupermarket, and expected to pick up a quotation similar to the £61 suggested that may be available from Direct Travel. The premium was 50% higher at £97.13.

Having shopped around, it is still about the best deal I can find.
I emailed the MSE team, inviting them to review and amend the main article, but no change so far.

I was wondering whether anyone knows of a better premium before I opt for the £97 one?

    Kind regards
    Mick
  • Have just been looking through the travel section of the Mail on Sunday and found the following companies who offer insurance to older age groups.

    www.justthecover.co.uk
    Avanti - 0800 066 5604
    Holsure - 0845 0945 360
    GJ Sladdin - 0800 731 3989

Have never tried any of them but they might be of help to you.

I have a travel insurance question.

As far as I can tell under 18s cannot get travel insurance in their own right.

So if you have a 16 year old travelling with their aunt, aunt who already has her own travel insurance how do you get cover for the 16 year old? Can she travel on a family policy even if no-one else covered by the policy is travelling?

    Thanks!

Post Office insurance would probably be available. However, when I tried to do this their web site failed, so it might be easier to buy it over the counter.
  • I had a good trawl through the family annual ski policies last week, and found eBookers was cheapest for an annual family policy including winter sports at £54.55, and you can get 10% cashback through cashbackkings.com
  • Have just get annual multi trip insurance via the moneysupermarket site for a family of four for £33 - sounds good to me!

Have you looked at flexicover - I found them via MSE and they're great. Admittedly there is only one of me but their annual policy with added skiing is £29

Beware - if it sounds too good to be true - it probably is - these "free" policies can be very cheap and not until you run up a bill into the tens of thousands of pounds do you put you claim in and find the policy has a £5,000.00 limit (here in Florida a bad broken leg can cost that much)

The medical expenses cover using your CapitalOne credit card is £5,000,000.
It seems to be too good to be true. Why isn`t everybody using it?
