Sometimes if you haven't made many calls during a month, they will bunch 2 or 3 months together and take it off in one go. That's what happened to us a few months back.

    What's a GKA Kimberley?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I tried to sign up with 1899 today and received this message:

"Due to capacity issues it is currently not possible to sign up.
    Please try again later."

I presume they can't handle the influx of new customers??

    Anyone know anything?

EDIT: Please ignore, I've just read the first post in the thread, (slapping ones hands as typing) thanks Edinburghlass.

  • Have just tried to sign up to 18185, 18866 and 1899 online, but they all say
"Due to capacity issues it is currently not possible to sign up.
    Please try again later."
So I tried again using my mobile number as suggested, bt still no luck

Anyone got and more suggestions or will I literally have to try again later ?!?

    TIA

I did 18185 and 1899 using my mobile number shortly after my posting above yours and all went fine. Accepted and logged in and entered my landlines (all 264 of them)

    (2 of them :-))

Just had my first invoice from 1899. £1.50 for 3 months. So maybe they charge by the quarter.

They normally invoice monthly or when the amount reaches a reasonable level eg about £5 . Perhaps they needed the wonga :D .

Entering ONLY a mobile number usually works (i.e. make no reference to a landline number).

When the 'accepted' e-mail arrives, log into your account and add the landline number(s) and delete the mobile one if you want to.

Hi, newbie here. I was preiously with AOL Talk, but after reading Martin's recommendations have switched to Primus Saver Option 2. Also I have just registered with 1899 / 18185 and 18866, but have just read the faq's and realised there is a problem with AOL e-mails. According to the discount calls websites, the problem lies withj AOL in that they block any messages. I have checked with AOL and they say there is no problem at their end.

Has any other AOL customer had the same problem, if so, any advice as I don't really want to unravel what could in the long run save me £100 pa. Thanks.
