The message wasn't very clear on 18185 but it sounded like 7p per minute for mobiles yesterday (sunday) but 1899 is still anouncing 6p per minute.
According to their sites BOTH are still 6p per minute (Weekends)
Anyone else find this?

Bizarrely however, they (18185) charge 6p/minute via their gateway numbers (I use 0808 1 703 703).
http://18185.co.uk/mobilerates.phpTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Er, no. 18185's site most definitely shows 7p/minute to UK mobiles at weekends via the 18185 access prefix.

I''ve been reading all the info on override phone calls but really can't see the difference between 818185, 18866 and the others. PLEASE could someone put it very simply for me? I have a BT landline and call other landlines & mobiles in UK frequently. Which site would be best for me?0

Welcome to the MSE forums Burgerking.
Essentially, 1899, 18185 and 18866 are all the same (they're the same [Swiss] firm anyway).
Their prices differ slightly so you use the one (or, in my case, the ones) suitable for the calls you make.

I have just signed up to 18185. My landline is with Madasafish which is a BT company. Can anyone please tell me if I can use 18185 or do I have to use the 0808 number? I can't find a clear answer on the website.0

Their website isn't the best, nor is their backup in my limited experience, but they are saving us a fortune :money: so I just keep my fingers crossed nothing goes wrong!! Check you bank statement and your user details on their website in case your email address gets a # in front of it and you stop getting bills! You will get a bill after 2 weeks and then every 2 months if your direct debit works ok if you're like me.
Check this http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=1598074&postcount=4 link from Heniz to see which is the cheapest way to make your calls and try either 18185 or 0808 at first to see which costs you less. Your 18185 account should show you your cheapest way of calling if you do a couple of test calls to landlines and mobiles at the different times of day/week.
Hope that helps a bit!
I'm sure Heinz has a link to a post which has written before that says it all more clearly

Thanks Speedee. I have looked at all that but I still don't know if Madasafish is considered a BT landline! I suppose I will just have to experiment as you say.0

The 0808 number is essentially for cable and mobile phone users. You can just go ahead and prefix your calls with 18185.0 -

You're not kidding. I signed up on 18585's website on Friday and have not heard a peep back. When I dial 18585 it tells me curtly that i'm not registered for this service and to ring 08000363838. Calling that i get a hard to follow message from what may be Primus. The message leads into an automated system which advises me to 'press 0 to speak to an operator' - Then it tells me that that number 'is not a valid option'
What a crock of ****.
So. How do I proceed? I don't really want to repeatedly invite them to set up a direct debit on my account (No recurring CC authorities from me) but i do want the service. Could it just be that it takes them several days before setting me up on the service. I'd have thought an automated acknowledgment email would have been th minimum to expect.
Thanks in advance JJ0
