Is 18185 still the cheapest to use then in conjunction with a BT?
I find I'm mainly calling mobiles nowadays.0 -
Yes that's the log in address i use, but my login details don't work?
Do you have the times for the free calls? i guess 6pm to 8am? but can't seem to find any details.
Yes, 'evening' times are 6pm to 8am.Is 18185 still the cheapest to use then in conjunction with a BT?

Similarly, 18185's charge (but this time via the 0808 1 703 703 freephone gateway number) to call any UK mobile weekends is also 6p/minute and that can also be beaten using a (0844) gateway provider but, again, I don't use them because you start paying halfway through dialling and pay even if you don't get a reply.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Thanks! So (stupid question coming) if i just remove the dialer box, i'll just be on the primus option 2 and 1280 to bypass to BT?
Sorry, just need to make sure
Thanks again!0 -
The Orchid V4 Box
OK, if something has gone wrong with your Orchid and it's making your line quality poor (not unheard of but also very rare) disconnecting it will mean you'll have to make call routing decisions yourself (or herself) each time.
With the Orchid disconnected, a BT line and Primus Saver Option 2 as your CPS calls carrier, your calls, by default, go via Primus and your evening and weekend UK 01/02/03 calls of up to 90 minutes each will be free. That means manual insertion of the 18185 prefix will be necessary for weekday daytime UK 01/02/03 calls, calls to UK mobiles at all times and, possibly, for your international calls too.
Using a 1280 prefix would override the (Primus) default routing and would force individual calls via BT (they'd then appear on your BT bill). That's worthwhile for 084 and 087 calls (if you have to make them).
It would also be worthwhile using the 1280 prefix for weekend UK 01/02/03 calls because those calls would then count as your 'qualifying' calls for free Caller Display and/or basic 1571. The drawback is BT only allows inclusive 60 minute calls (whereas Primus's are 90 minutes).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Well I am having real problems with 18185. As I said before I can't access my account for some reason when I signed up it has come up with my very old number from 7 years ago. I either had a serious mental aberration while signing up ( am occassionally ditsy, but not this ditsy!) or is has somehow got my old number. I went in and deleted my old number and put in my new one which it said was incorrect, well no it isn't it is my phone number.
I now can't access my account at all. I emailed them and they said I have an outstanding balance on 18866. I have absolutely no recollection of signing up with this company and if I did it was over 7 years ago. I am seriously confused. I really can't believe I put a phone number in that is 7 years old.0 -
Your account would have remained registered even if there was no outstanding balance - so that accounts for the old telephone number being listed.
Log into your 18866 A/C (your old phone number) and check. You'll need to know your A/C number too so you may have to email them again as you won't be able to make a call to their 08081701708 A/C number checking line from your old phone number now.
18866 A/Cs are accessed via https://myaccount.finarea.ch/112/login.aspx?custlink= now.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Any links to an email for 18866? There is no way I have an email from them for my account number! Thank you Heinz.0

I had helpdeskcollect@hq.nl a while back for 1899, 18866 or 18185 (can't remember which) but, as they're all the same company that might be worth a try.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
