Ceridwen - if you can't find trays like Gingerbeer's, you might try those shallow underbed chests without the lid. You never know, you might get some on Freecycle/car boot. I have a similar system in miniature on my indoor window sills for grouping/watering small pots. It saves having to find individual saucers, and if I want to move pots to follow the sun, I can pick up one tray instead of several pots. I use trays that were sold as cat litter trays @ 95p each.

I bought large cat-litter trays from the pound shop, they had them in green and they hold quite a few pots.

Oliveoyl - I love your allotment and am dead jealous. It looks like you have done a fab job. I am at the wrong end of a 200+ long waiting list for mine!

Potatoes are getting HUGE! I didn't expect the 'green' to get so big!

Have had 4 strawberries from my 6 first planted plants - they taste delicious! I love coming home to see if there are any ripe enough to pick. :D

I have some cauli/brassica getting too big for their pots in my growhouse, but I'm not sure where to plant them in my garden!

200+ ... that's ridiculous! I was told I'd probably have to wait a year, but then got a call after 2 weeks offering me one, so very lucky. Hope you get one sooner rather than later.
    TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!

I didn't buy it, I cadged spare bits of it off some workmen... it's either gas or water pipe, gas I think. I was going to buy some of this from Screwfix before I struck lucky and got it for nothing.

Is there a lot pushed into the ground to keep it sturdy?

I used some smaller plastic and metal sticks (just bits and bobs I found lying around) in the ground, just left 3/4 inches sticking up, and fitted the pipe down on to them.
