    Hello all -
Many thanks for the very helpful posts as I too, I am almost ashamed to say, have been caught in this scam.
I cancelled my direct debit after one payment was taken. I havw written to Lyle Hill with a copy of the letter to AMC.
I am on benefits paying Council Tax arrears and would not have entered such an agreement had I full knowledge.
If I get any update - I'll post it up.
Many thanks to those who helped - you know who you are :)

I have now received another letter from Sarah Duffy at Empingham it says as follows:

'We are disappointed that we have not been able to resolve this account by telephone of letter with you. We would prefer to avoid instructing our doorstep agent, Scotcall, visiting you and therefore urge you to take this final opportunity to contatc us in order to resolve this account.
However, if you are experiencing difficulty in paying this account, please call us and you will find that our collections team will be happy to work with you to find a payment structure that is acceptable.
Please call within 7 days to avoid this matter being passed to our agent.'

Has anybody else had a letter like this?? Can anybody give any advice? Has anybody ever heard of 'Scotcall'?

    Hey Leecox
from looking online Scotcall do look real, doesnt mean thou that Empingham have actually contacted them. They could have simply picked any of the doorstep collection agencys online wouldnt be hard to find one!!!
however if they do come knocking just tell them that you have reported AMC to trading standards and are disputing your account and are not paying.
they cant just barge their way in its illegal

Dont let the B*****ds get to you, they are just trying to figure a way out to scare you, we all know how they work, they probably wont do anything about it

    IGNORE IT

I was going to ignore it anyway, and i know they can not do anything without a court order! Im interested to find out whats going to happen in 7 days!! Has anybody contacted the CSA (credit services association), because apparently Empingham are members, I wonder if the know what kind of company they have licensed?

Has anybody got a name of someone from trading standards or OFT because I have got quite a bit of correspondence, which im sure would help their case against them!
  • hi there

I have been reading all the posts on this forum and decided to join in, I have had the same problem and now have had a letter saying that my debt has been passed on to debt collectors and that lyle hill will no longer be in a position to assist me bla bla bla...

the only problem is, unlike everyone else on here i have not written to them i have just simply ignored all the letters, has anyone else done this and anyone know hat i should do next??

    Thanks x

    tinker37,
yes i have received a letter from lyle hill saying they have given my account to a debt collecting agency, the letter was dated 25 June and as with the last 4 letters i have chosen to ignore this one as well. As yet i have yet to receive any more correspondence, although i have been expecting phone calls as other people on this forum have got them but as yet not one. i am not holding my breath waiting for these LOWLIFES to get in touch, i am getting on with my life and not letting them worry me or take up anymore of my time. will keep you all posted if they do decide to get in touch, i am past caring or worrying about them!!
  • I haven't been worrying too much but wasn't sure if because i had not actually wrote to them and the only thing i have done is cancel the direct debit i didn't know if they could actually send debt collectors, i think that with the amount of people actually taking action they would not be able to do anything. lets hope they do get closed down

am not sure if they can send debt collectors either, you have done the same as me, just ignored the letters, not written to them and cancelled my dd. i stopped correspondence to them because amc and lyle hill were just saying the problem was the other one's fault, i just gave up in the end and felt i was wasting my precious free time trying to communicate with them. This so called company is just full of SCUMBAGS and it makes me so mad that they are getting away with this for so long!!
