I have also been "got" by this scam and i too was not made aware of cancellation clause.
I have currently stopped the DD payment and have started to get letters from Fit Life their most recent one brought up the cancellation clause resulting in me checking papers.
i have emailed associated members club but am yet to get a response but then i gather this will arrive via snail.0 -
avent been on in a little while, after my last letter from empingham saying that if i did not pay within 7 days my account would be passed to a doorstep collection agency. It has now been nearly two months.....i thought doorstep collections agencies were meant to act quickly with these sort of things!! Im now wondering what will happen next?0

Hi have read so many post about fitlife and others on what is a scam, we have been conned into this in March, and have had final letter before they pass it to their debt collectors, and quite a few people have been theatened with this, but can anyone tell me if anyone has been taken to court. Our trading standards have not been of any help we have now passed paperwork to oft.0

I think OFT is your best bet there is lots of info on there website about this kind of thing apparently fitlife are supposed to send out an information pack with their letters by law and if they dont then any so called conditions are unenforceable I have yet to recieve this information pack so lets see what happens should they decide to take me to court0

Millerspike, you are now the 2nd person on here to be free of this lot - but how? Don't get me wrong, I'm pleased for you, very pleased as it gives the rest of us hope, but how do you do it. I looked back and you first appeared on these pages back in Feb this year but people like Pete 1210, Opsmith (and his wife!), Cashmere Pencil, lilmissnoodles, etc have been on ages - what happened to them. I've been to everyone imaginable and I'm still not free - is anyone else???
Hey! I'm still about! I didn't win this battle, I just moved house......but who knows if they'll ever catch up with me eh? Hope not, I got enough hassles in life without this lot badgering on!
Anyway I never did report any of this to the OFT (only my local TS but they were pretty useless tbh) but I will contact OFT should I ever be tracked down by these scumbags.
Gotta say though, I'm SHOCKED of all the new victims on here since my last post - WHY AREN'T THESE AWFUL AWFUL COMPANIES SHUT DOWN YET?
Surely there is enough evidence & complaints to make this possible?
Best to all!0 -
hi pete.. like you i just moved house...but my mate who joined up the same day as me said she hasnt heard from them in a while... its been over a year now and no one has showed up on her doorstep... i think weve heard the last of them... they seem to be consontrating on there latest victoms...

Hi all,
I signed up for this gym back in march of this year. Since, the club I signed up to has ceased trading, the company takes no calls, doesn't reply to emails or letters, and I have been reassigned to a club much further away, without my permission, without consultation and I'm still expected to keep up payments.
I've contacted Trading standards, who have asked me to write a letter regarding the
Supply of Goods & Services Act 1982 (As amended)
Common Law Scotland
If I write this letter, and supply my bank with a copy, can I not then get them to cancel the direct debit, under the understanding that the contract with which I signed up to with the gym is no longer valid, and therefore to not adversely affect my account in terms of defaults?
Thanks kindly. Wish we could put an end to corrupt companies once and for all...0 -
Hey, i've just joined MSE so I can provide my own knowledge about this scam.
I've just set up a Facebook group to promote awareness of this scam as I was a victim as well.
Please add this group and tell everyone you know, hopefully with enough members more can be done to expose all of this and make people like Watchdog take notice.
As i'm a new user, obviously I can't post the exact link because of the spamming filter. Simply, go onto Facebook and search "lyle hill" without the speech marks, and you'll see a large censored Scam logo (cool huh?) and join the group.

Hi Pete12 and everyone else. I don't want to tempt fate but I haven't heard anything from any of 'them' for ages now. My daughter is a bit behind me now in the proceedings and Empingham contacted her by phone recently. I spoke to the woman on the phone on my daughter's behalf and told her very politely how we were NOT going to pay any more and all the procedures we had gone through with T/S, CAB, OFT, Watchdog etc and I hoped this would be the end of it. While I was on the phone to her I asked her to look up my name to see what I could expect next and she could find no record of me at all, so can I dare hope they have given up?!? AM I FREE???!!!???0

hello everybody, just me again.
Had yet another letter from these so called humans, this time "proving" that we signed credit agreements, and that we must have known this at the time! I must have been blind at the time as I was not aware of them being there when we were being sold a bunch of poop, claiming that the "Prize" ran out that w/end, we had to sign there and then or the prize was forfeited, that we were paying solely for the upkeep of the gym and nothing at all about it being a 2 year non-cancellable agreement. We were in and out within 20 minutes, do they really believe that you can be fully advised of what you are signing and do they also believe that as a couple you can make an informed judgement and discuss the pro's and con's of further financial hardships on top of being parents to 2 young children with only one wage coming in within that timescale? If they do, then bring on the summons! "We shall never surrender" let's keep Britain GREAT.0
