have received my final warning letter from lyle hill today threatening me with a debt collection agency who they say may visit my home or take legal action if i don't pay them. have decided to inform trading standards on Monday to see if they can help. Any more advice from anyone please? The letter is in red and looks pretty real and scary!!0

Hey Kim
this is just another one of there Scare tactics, i recieved the same thing about 3 months ago, you will problably recieve another one this week saying pretty much the same thing as the last,
Dont worry!!!
easy thing to do, if they have given you the name and number of the collection agency (who will defo be a sub "Company" of these b******s) tell them that you are disputing your account, and also contact trading standards
like i said they contacted me 3 months ago, and since i put my account into dispute they havent tried again, trading standards are now looking into my case so hopefully it should be sorted soon0 -
Thanks for that Millerspike. Will wait for my next letter and keep you posted.0

...& I think it's gotta be safe to say that it's obvious that this lot KNOW they have been nailed....why?....becuase WHO on this forum has had either a court case, debt collector at their door, or had absolutley NO choice than to pay up...answer NOBODY.....otherwise they would have warned us all by now eh? (unless they had their computers comfiscated?)
Hope I'm right anyway - they may even refresh all the original mandates & hit eveyone up again?
I'm ready!

I feel better too when I read these comments. Just to get an update from me as well - I have heard absolutely NOTHING from these people for ages now. My daughter is in the same boat but is a few months behind me in the process. She used to really worry when she got the threatening letters, but now she just puts them in the folder and does nothing. I had a visit from the Principal Trading Standards Officer in Hereford who has been trying to get these clowns closed down for ages. He took all my documents away and told me not to give them another thought. All has gone quiet now but I can assure you I have NO worries at all.0

Hi all,
I'm new to all this but so glad there are so many people out there in this situation. I'm writing on behalf of my mum. She also received a slip in january, in dorset, and signed onto a gym as you all did. She emailed to cancel the contract 19 days after signing and yes she got the bog standard response you all have received. She also called Fitlife who said they claim no liability over it, and the amc also said they have no influence over cancelling, so who is actually in control?!
after reading all of this i told her to cancel her standing order as you have all said to do and cancel our local trading standards. She has done that today, but it seems trading standards werent that helpful and told her she was wrong to cancel her SO and that she could now be taken to court. so of course she is panicking.
Can people just give me some advice as to what there TS have told them to do, and so i can reassure her she won't go to court? Have people actually been called by a debt company? and how have you fought this off?
Any advice would really help at this time.
Thanks0 -
Hi all...I was signed up to associated members club a few months ago and thought i got a pretty good deal for my gym membership. However they keep forgetting to take payment every month, or taking 2 months payment in one. I love the gym i go to but im so reluctent to pay £16.53 a month to people who keep messing me about. Everytime i try to contact Lyle Hill Ltd. it says its not a recognised number, ive emailed plenty of times to make a payment but no one ever gets back to me. Does anyone know what would happen if i just cancelled the standing order? Any comments would be much appreciated x0
