Hi opsmithswife
Yeah it's like, if they don't run it as a topic of complaint, could that then be that the three companies are kinda in the clear, thus putting all of us in a position where we're not completely...er...correct? technically?????
LOL I still ain't told them I have moved...whilst I no longer hear a bean from them, I kinda feel better about all this..out of sight, out of mind (says me who checks this forum every single day!)
I feel sooo stupid for all of this... quite disturbing in fact!
All the best0 -
There I was saying I was going to watch Watchdog - I missed it!!
There's no way we're in the wrong. I have to keep telling myself that everyday, as prescribed by my solicitor!
I know what you mean about feeling stupid, but the one thing we've got to remember is that we're not the only ones - there are hundreds that have been 'had'. I just can't believe how easily I fell for it.
Hahahahahaha! As long as you're enjoying your new pad, forget about crappy FLL, AMC, LH, Emp!0 -
Hi all, I missed Watchdog too - were we mentioned? Pete, I check this forum every day too, even though I have been told not to worry by 3 major parties I still like to see how everyone else is doing. The latest thing I have done is send my signed consent form to the OFT - has anyone else been approached by them? Good luck everyone.0

I've not been approached by anyone - just advised by the Hants TS office. I'm still due to complain to the FOS but haven't even got round to doing that yet. Whilst I hear nothing I tend to do nothing...but then nobody knows where I am anyway...except CashmerePencil LOL!
Nothing mentioned on WD this week as far as I'm aware.0 -
Hi Folks,
Just a quick update:
After receiving the first letter from Empingham we left a message on their ansafone explaining that the matter was in dispute with Fitlife Ltd and we wouldn't be paying!
We received a second letter threatening "door step collection activity" or litigation.
We ignored that one (If they can't monitor their ansafone I can't be bothered and - I have a feeling that replying will just elicit a further attempt to get payment from us... fat chance)!
There's no mention of it on the Watchdog website so I'm guessing it wasn't aired yet (Angelina and the kids have all been ill, so I missed it this week)... So I sent them an email with our story and a link to this thread.
Keep on fighting folks and let's hope Watchdog do take an interest.0 -
OMG this is the one that we were had with aswell. been getting threatening letters from a company called ECI. they're obviously 'fitlife' and not a debt collection company as they're leading us to believe as when we checked the old standing orders that went out the were being collected by ECI.
any ideas on what to do next. consumer direct have told us to write to both company addresses asking them for a copy of the actual signed credit agreement. Initially thought we had them over a barrel as we thought son was 17 at time of signing. turns out he had 'just' turned 18. days before.
anybody have any advice on this?0 -
Hiya guys, been a while - I've let the wife do the talking.
I noticed that some of you were worried about missing watchdog. If you follow the link below it will take you directly to the Watchdog website and the stories that have been on the shows. You can even watch some of the programs if you want.

Also, if you look at the column on the right of that page there is a link to 'being discussed now' and 'Scams'. It gives brief accounts for very common scams. And guess what! There is one that is remarkably like ours!
Scratch that, they've updated it and moved the 'Scams' item - but you can search for it.0 -
I last posted on here 15th October. Not been on since because I had nothing to report. Trading Standards sent Empingham a letter on my behalf, via email and copied me in and since then I have not heard a peep! Whoooooo!! Fingers crossed they have given up on us because they know we are not stupid!
I have sent Trading Stds an email today chasing up to see if OFT have looked into our issue with these scam people......If I have anything to report I will let you guys know0 -
Nice one jammer13!
We think the same, i'm glad we haven't had anything else. We haven't even had Trading Standards contact us or on our behalf.
I think the battle / war is finally over! In the words of John Lennon and Yoko Ono:
"war is overrrrr
if you want iiiit
war is overrrrr
lllaaaaa laaa laaaa laaa"
Seems quite appropriate to this time of year!
If I don't hear or speak to you all again before the new year, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and happy new year.0 -
.....er nope! LOL!
The letters are sealed, stamped & ready to go & have been since beggining of November...I really cannot be bothered to tell them to be honest - why should I anyway, it's not like they been honest with me...or anyone else for that matter. I'll use that fact on them should they ever catch up with me...other than that - let's all hope this is it!
They'll be back next year tho....invading some other poor towns no doubt...... A-holes! :mad:0
