  • Hi All,

I spoke too soon. Had a letter waiting for me when I got home from Lyle Hill stating that they are now passing my "debt" onto a debt collection agency.

I'm not scared of their little threats.

I'm due to contact my solicitor this morning to update her. I'll let you know the outcome.

    xx

    I'm moving house!

Now part of me says to NOT advise the three companies of my new address (as so to avoid any so-called debt-collecter visits)

...but the other part of me says I should in case they try & go against me for false information or somthing like that???

    Any opinions?

    Ta
  • I've now had the same response from Lyle Hill and Fitlife saying they are passing me onto their debt collection agents. They still haven't sent me a copy of my pre contract information sheet! Looks like I'm in the same boat as Opsmithswife! I have spoken to a solicitor who will be helping me to draft yet another letter! She did say that I run the risk of being black listed though! I have also contacted Trading Standards in South Gloucestershire and they are going to take a statement from me. Apparently this they've had loads of complaints in relation to this scam and will be taking action once they have gained enough evidence. They state that this will be taken to court and may result in substantial fines and even the possibility of prison sentences for those responsible for this totally illegal and immoral scam!
  • Get em banged up the SCUMBAGS!!

Many people here have had the threat letters from Lyle Hill stating that they are forwarding the so-called debt to debt collectors...

But has anyone received any correspondence from these people yet?
  • Hi All,

pete1210 - If I was you, I wouldn't tell them you've moved house. Let the people that move into your house know the situation and if they get any bother from callers, to pass them onto you. I would deal with it that way. You also need to assure your new occupants that the house will not be blacklisted.

Emsicles - Did your solicitor tell you that while they put a note on your credit rating/report, you can also put a statement on there counteracting the "illeged debt".

I spoke to my solicitor yesterday. She once again told me that this company (Lyle Hill) is connected with the other companies, so they're trying every which way possible to get money out of me.
She told me not to be surprised if I get people call the house or knocking at the door. She said the one thing I need to remember is that no bailiff can talk to me or knock on my door without a County Court Judgment - which will never be granted. She also told me to check my credit report (through experian) in about 6 weeks to see if they have followed through with their threats.
  • pete1210 - I haven't received anything yet, although I should expect something towards the end of next week. According to jammer13 it might be from a company called Empingham.

Good luck on the house move - I know how stressful that can be! We moved into our first house whilst I was doing a degree in Business as well as organising my wedding! No fun at all!

    Hi folks

I am in the same boat as the rest of you. I live in Scotland, I don't know if any of you do, but this is doing my head in now.

I wish it would hurry up and get fixed or more importantly, they just cancel the so called agreement. I have spoken to trading standards and the guy I spoke with said that the office of fair trading are trying to do something about this.

I have signed my non-cancellable pre-contract agreement but was never shown this before my signature was carbonated through onto the piece of paper. I also asked the staff member at the time of being rushed into joining, if I would be tied to this for the next two years. He told me that I could cancel at anytime if it wasn't working out for me and that my "offer" would be re-advertised for someone else to use. AMC are shooting that down in flames!

When I re-attended 6 days later to cancel my membership, I was also told that I had a 30 day colling off period in which to cancel and that because I hadn'e been inducted and had never used the gym, this wouldn't be a problem. Funny that...coz it still is a problem!!

I am just worried that this will affect my credit. I am looking to get a mortgage next year and this is the last thing I need.

By the way, does anyone have an address for Lyle Hill that they are getting aresponse from? So far, AMC are the only people who are replying to me.

    Thanks.

    Hi AngryLisa,

Here are the three companies involved:

Fitlife Ltd t/a Finance for Fitness
    PO Box 90
    Gloucester
    GL4 8LN

    Associated Members Club
    P.O. Box 781
    Cheltenham
    GL51 8WR

    Lyle Hill Ltd
    Britannia Suite
    Terminus Terrace
    Southampton
    SO14 3FD

As for your credit history & (everyone elses for that matter) - I'm sure that if it can be proved as a scam then Experian or whoever will be able to undo their doing from your credit history - in other words make an appeal & provide the evidence against them.....if possible

Good luck in whatever you try to do like the rest of us have done. Let's hope we can bring the b'stards down!
