The letters are from Lyle Hill. Fitlife AMC never replied to any correspondance

Conker - if AMC/Fitlife have not responded to you. You don't have to deal with Lyle Hill as the "agreement" is not with them. You'll find out that once you start threatening them with OFT, Watchdog and newspapers, and legislation, they'll soon deny all knowledge of being involved! They're stupid like that! :p
  • what if all us people from gloucester meet at everybodies gym and and have it out with them, they must have been in on it. we could get some banners like pete suggested and get some T shirts printed out with WE WERE SCAMMED on the front, can you imagine there their faces. :j
  • Not a bad idea ann.may, however, although they must have known what was going on, it's not they who are causing the problem. It would be interesting to know how many of their members did not sign up through the AMC. If it's a high % then there's more reason to do it, but it's the AMC that needs to be hit hard, they are supplying and training the gym staff to sell. I'd love to pose as a trainer and take part in one of their courses, blow it up from the inside!!! Does anybody happen to know someone who used to work for one of their gyms?
  • it just makes me sick to think that the man who runs everybodies was sat there behind his counter knowing what was going on, where did he think we all came from. even when we handed over money he was sat there, he knew but he didnt care because he was getting new members. i was trying to rember if it was a mobile or a landline that we had to ring
  • i was thinking that opsmithswife..just going to wait for the letters to start again after the 5th Oct when they realise I haven't reinstated the DD!!
  • Good for you Conker! :D

We're just waiting for the "debt collection" letters to start coming through - my solicitor will have a field day! hehehe :j

I think what opsmith (my hubby!) said was right - the AMC are the ones to be 'bannered' :T

ann.may - for SurveyUK? If yes, it was a land line - we've still got the slip of paper and the name of the girl who signed us up!

  • I sent Empingham a letter 1st class that I was given by Trading Stds, along with a copy to AMC, Fitlife, LyleHill etc....on Thursday 25th Sep 08
The questionnaire that Trading Stds had relevant to this company is no longer available......complete questionnaires have been sent to the OFT, and I will try and keep in touch with Trading Stds to see what the outcome is......
Empingham have been trying to contact me via mobile (I cannot pick up in work hours) I did pick up at lunch time today and the lady said she would call me after 5pm tonight!!!??? I'm unsure what to say to them so asked for Trading standards advice, here is what I was kindly advised
[SIZE=+0]'I think you should tell them you are disputing the debt and are currently corresponding with AMC/Fitlife and have told them if they insist on pursuing it they must do so through the recognised route of the County Court. Debt collectors have no more right than they do to get money from you without a court order. Tim seemed pretty sure they would be unsuccessful if they did this so we just have to put our faith in the system. It is quite likely Empingham are an ‘in house’ collection department connected to the other parties'.

  • Jammer13 - how many letters in total do you think you've had before they decided to get Empingham involved? Just wondering if this is the next letter that is due to us!?

You're doing the right thing by involving trading standards - they're very helpful.

I really hope everything works out for you.

Umm, unsure of how many, all the info I have is at work....I will have a look tomorrow and report on here.

I know I had a few from Fitlife saying they would pass my debt onto debt collectors before I had the Empingham one

They haven't rang me since I picked up and asked for them to call after work? So I don't know what's going on quite, and I'm not wasting my time by calling them. If only they took notice of my first cancellation letter I wouldn't be sat wasting my time now!!!!

Trad Stds are VERY helpfull, let's hope the OFT will be even more helpfull and tell AMC, Fitlife, LyleHill and Empingham to 'beep' off
  • Hi All,

Well, it's been a week and we still haven't received any letters back from AMC or anyone else. Let's hope they've given up! YEY!
