  • well said pete, i sent my 3 letters to who ever they had to go to, and i aint doing no more, im ignoring all their letters, they can say what the hell they like, I DONT CARE just take me to court and get this crap over and done with cus its getting boring now. they havent got a leg to stand on and they no it . there just hoping that we will crumble and give in to them and just pay, but i am dammed if there getting any money off me:T
  • I was half tempted to pay off the full amount just so that i could get away from this gym membership. I really need help and anyone who can help please do. I signed a contract 8/708 with these B***ards and haven't really been using it since it's quite a trek for me. i also have a gym at college which is a lot easier to go to on a more regular bases. I live in gloucester and i plan on going down to Everybodies gym to tell that i plan on cancelling my gym membership. I'll also ask them for who i have to write to and i'll also contact trading standards. Is there anything else that i should/ need to do?

I wouldn't even waste your breath on the gym....just follow the steps seen throughout this forum & take it from there...in a nutshell write to AMC, Lylehill & Fitlife with the recommended comments seen previously in this forum. Make copies of your letters.
  • cheers, has anyone got the address for FitLife Ltd. as I have Lyle Hill and AMC
  • Nighteyez,

The address for FitLife is exactly the same as Lyle Hill,

    53c Manor Road North,
    Itchen
    Southampton SO19 2DT

    This is from Companies House.

    Good luck!!
  • Myself and a family member were also caught up in this scam. Not only were we conned into paying for two memberships, when we were put under the iimpression that one was included as a guest for the other, but we were also not made aware of the uncancellable nature of the credit agreement. They hid the pink carbon copy of the pre-contract agreement under the other sheets!!! this contravenes the credit agreement act as it does not adhere to the legislations governing appropriate disclosure of pre-contract information.

The best thing anyone in a similar position can do is write to Fitlife/Lyle hill and AMC (recorded delivery) and state that you're cancelling the membership. Also write to your bank, cancelling the standing order. Also, importantly, CONTACT YOUR LOCAL TRADING STANDARDS AUTHORITY, as they will send you a questionnaire, directly relevant to AMC. if enough people fill this out and complain, they are going to take direct action. Also well worth contacting watchdog and your local papers to try and blow this scam out of the water.

All in all, there is nothing to worry about with a court case, as Fitlife cannot afford to go to court as there is too much risk, especially with all the evidence. Once they lose one case they are really up sh*t creek as everyone else will be wanting their money back (and be entitled to it!). If anyone is called up by the way, I'd be more than happy to give a statement.
  • I went to the Citizens Advice Bureau today and they told me that they were aware of AMC and that I should go their Drop-in session tomorrow so that I can talk to an Expert about what to do. I'll let you know what they told me. other then that i would go down to your local office and make them aware of just how many people are having a problem with these people.

Also thanks CashmerePencil for the address I'll get my letters ready to send off after tomorrows talk.
  • Received my final warning from Lyle Hill today. Has anyone who has had one and obviously not paid heard anymore, from them or debt collectors etc??
  • I've been caught up in the same since Feb/March (It was so long ago I cannot remember without looking at my paperwork) I have posted on here before
I have been ignoring all letters from the above for the last few mths, because I was getting no where. They ignore the fact that you haven't used the membership, and that you wish to cancel. I did send Fitlife a cheque for the outstanding monies (a while back) but was advised to cancel it with my bank, I did so, but then on receiving my statement, I saw that it had been cashed  I rang my bank and it was human error that they didn't cancel it, the re-issed it. I was NOT happy!! So Fitlife have had approx £30 from me.

Today 22.09.08 I have received a letter from Empingham Resolution & Negotiation....I'm yet to look into who they are!? It says I owe £500.03 (I'm yet to check this amount) under the consumer credit act. It says that Fitlife have instructed them to pursue the debt. It states that if you dispute the debt they would be happy to discuss this in an attempt to bring this issue to a satisfactory conclusion. I will check them out first then get on the phone (more of my time and money on this very annoying issue

One of the things that I do wonder about is that the 'said' gym that I can use with the membership haven't chased me to attend, nothing from them at all apart from a reply to one of my many letters that I included them in on, saying that they cannot cancel my membership and that I would have to get in touch with AMC.....AMC then advise that it's not them it's fitlife....and Fitlife say it's not down to them and to contact AMC......!!!!!! is going on? Who can cancel this!!!

Very tired and bored of all this now
