I feel so daft now after reading this thread.

I emailed the Associated Gym part 3 times in March to ask them to put my account on gold as I was undergoing cardiac care at the time. They never responded even though I sent numerous emails and a doctors letter. I started getting letters from FitLife asking for money.

I rang and explained twice what my circumstances were, they said they would look into it and I still recieved more letters. Yesterday I got one saying I had ignored all opportunities to communicate!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!! no I never! I had a go on the phone but I ended up making card payment for the last two months.

No idea what to do next , should I reinstate the DD? I don't want to but I don't want a CCJ either :embarasse

Hi All,

Just had a letter from Fitness Finance in association with Fit Life Ltd trading as Associated Members Club (ridiculous isn't it! what a mouthfull). The letter states that they have now handed my case over to a debt collection agent. I called the solicitor this morning - she just laughed!

She told me again that I have nothing to worry about. Any further letters are to be ignored. She told me that they are now on their last ditch attempt to get some money out of me and are trying to scare us into submission. She said "Don't give up what ever you do". She also said that the union's lawers will help with a response IF I get a court summons.

Haven't heard back from Watchdog yet. I've had read reports from my local newspaper. So hopeful they'll come back with some info soon.

It's nice to know the law is on our side!

Pete1210 - i'm soooooo up for doing the banner thing! Good suggestion!

Conker - don't you dare reinstate your DD. You contacted them, they had every opportunity to respond in the manner you would expect, i.e nicely!

Just tell them you want out! When did you sign up for this? Were you given the pre-contract info sheet? were you told it was non-cancellable?

Just remember that everything they're telling you is exactly the same as what they've told the rest of us - we're not giving in, nor should you!

With regards to the CCJ, did you know that if they put a note on your credit history, you can put one on there too in response to it? I found that out about a month ago from my solicitor.

The last thing you should be doing is worrying - I hope you feel well now.

I signed up in March, 2 weeks after losing my little sister - thought it would give me something to focus on..unfortunately got ill quite soon after.

Was never given a pre-contract info sheet. I hadn't even heard of that till this thread. Definitely was not told it was non-cancellable.

I wish I had seen this thread yesterday - when I got home from work and saw the letter I just panicked I guess - never had a threatening letter before.

I am not going to reinstate my DD and monitor this thread - fingers crossed

Please dont pay them another penny! You've found the forum now and there is far too much resolve and determination here that we cant lose!! They really are nasty people who clearly make alot from conning people, but they have met their match here. There must be at least 20 individuals here who are all willing to club together and help each other fight these people. WE CANT LOSE!!!!

were your letters actually from FitLife of Lyle Hill? I know they are the same people but I would be interested to know if you've heard from FitLife as they are the elusive company that AMC and Lyle Hill fob us off to!

AMC and Fitlife are one and the same - I refuse to spend money on sending "both companies" letters saying the same thing!

Conker/Karen - I'm so so sorry to hear about your little sister. *hugz*
