Hi all, It is 9.43 here in Vancouver. Yesterday and Saturday it was a heat wave but now I feel as if I am back in Scotland rain, rain rain. Just an update I tracked my 2 parcels and they are showing as picked up at the person's home (didn't state where) but even that makes it totally trackable his address I mean which is encouraging. I still have hope. The police said he was too damn stupid to be a scammer too many mistakes a scammer wouldn't make and the fact that he called me back several times. Let's hope so. parcels will be delivered on Wednesday. I asked paypal if they looked too small or too light to be the goods should my partner not sign for them. Paypal said it didn't matter because if he did sign for them they would just start another dispute stating that goods were not as described. I didn't like the sound of that as it means that everything would be taking another 6 weeks added on to resolving. The police said they would try and track him down too in Dorset, just as a courtesy thing right now but nevertheless use their sources to see if there was such a character and his whereabouts. I wait with baited breath for Wednesday and I suspect even if it is 3.00 am Vancouver time my partner will phone me and let me know. Maybe not if it a roll of linoleum made up to look like a foam mattress, and a bag of rags from the charity shop made up to look like the bedding. Hhahahhah. I am more curious now than anything to see where this charade will lead to. When I find out "who am I gonna tell? Moneybusters" Keep your eyes on this page lol. Taffy0

Oh and as an aside Bedlum Beds is the company that Tim works for. I told him that was a very appropriate name for my fiasco. I tell you something the help and advice and measure of kindness that Tim has shown me privately if I needed another mattress this is where I would go. You can be assured of professional, honest advice for your needs. Maybe I shouldn't do this on here but it is not for my own personal gain is it?
Thank you Tim for all your help, thank all of you, but particularly Tim for calming me down when I needed it the most and for caring and worrying when I did not post on here and previously saying I felt quite ill. It's funny how time passes and worry does not make it any better. What is to be is to be, it is not making myself ill over it. So what if I never get the goods at least I will have my health and that is a wonderful thing to have.

I can't sleep. Did not go to bed until 2.00 am Vancouver time 10.00 am Scottish time hoping that the parcel would be there. Showed it tracking at the Glasgow depot at 7.51 am. Fitful tossing and turning, dreams, nightmares and waking up. I went to bed after reading an answer from paypal.
It was unbelievable. It said it looked at the case and that looking at all the facts it said that it had decided in my favour.
"Tried to get funds out of sellers account but there are none. blah blah as per paypal account paypal doesn't state that it will definately give the money back". I will try and cut and paste it but daughter's pc is a mac and is horrible.
It said that this could result in a warning to the seller or could even mean that they would suspend the account and they might not be able to trade again under that name. What the hell is that here is me thinking fraud, theft and they get a slap on the wrist.
The last paragraph said this dispute is now closed we will continue to monitor and try and get some money back. Nothing about paying even part of it.
So I think it must be a scam he hasn't even replied to Paypal.
when I called them last Friday they said he had until May 19th to reply and he hasn't even replied. I cannot believe how useless Paypal is about all this. Dispute closed????
So I have had fitful sleep after reading that. I now think that all my intuition is wrong and the bloke is a scam artist unlike what I had thought.
Better go back to bed I am shattered.

Taffy, parcel force shows the item tracking.
Is it possible that the seller is inexperienced and didn't reply to paypal simply because he has already sent it, so thought that was an end to it?
Isn't the mattress due to be delivered today?
I have my fingers crossed for you that the stuff turns up. However unlikely that may be, it IS still possible.

When I called Paypal they said he hadn't responded to any of their claims or questions and he had until May 19th to respond. They might have waived in my favour but it is meaningless. They will try and keep their eye on that account in case he puts some money in there!!!!!!!!!!!
I will try and get my daughter to cut and paste part of the email. It didn't say anything about even partially giving me some coverage back at all, just dispute closed.

Aye the mattress is to be delivered today and I didn't go to bed until 2.00 Vancouver time thinking that maybe it would get to the house because then it would be 10.00 in Scotland.
Sigh wish I wasn't such a worry wart.

It's now very definitely a police matter. It would save you a lot of time if you could contact the police officer who attended your home to take the report.
If, for any reason, the officer is unavailable - shift working, training course, holidays or an injury - get details of his/her sergeant or inspector and speak to them. No-one will mind.
It sounds to me as though the officer needed some advice about how to categorise the occurrence. Don't blame him/her if they sounded a bit puzzled - it is not a straightforward area of crime investigation and they will need to talk to Paypal to get the whole picture.
But it is more straightforward for the police now. Your money has been stolen by a thief.
I know you are thousands of miles away, but if your local force has a website where you can leave messages for officers, then think about using it.
Thinking of you......
Incidentally, I would tell Paypal that I am seeing solicitor, contacting BBC's Watchdog and talking to a national newspaper.0 -
Go back to the police and be persistent, this is fraud and must be dealt with as such.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. As I told you (in the dim and distant past!) a similar thing happened to me with a camera. The seller disappeared to pakistan for a month on urgent family business - I was having a complete breakdown - but it turned out the brother was supposed to send it and was clueless. The camera did turn up.
I'll admit there was a high risk I'd been scammed but in the end all was well. Any news on the delivery yet?
