oh god does this mean that I have committed fraud by paying him off ebay? I had no idea and nothing to gain I just thought because he was dropping his reserve that he couldn't or didn't know how to use ebay and neither did I.
You are by no means at fault. Sellers are not allowed to advertise an item on ebay and then sell this specific item off-site.
The seller is the one at fault, not you.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

This is a link to an email contact form, asking about the seller, the item, asks you for copies of emails, so if he emailed you offering to sell outside of ebay you can forward them a copy, and asks if you knew ot was off-site (which you didn't).
It is separate from your paypal claim.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

he didn't ask me to buy off ebay but I did ask him if he would drop the reserve as I couldn't pay that amount. he said he wouldn't until nearly the end of the listing and no one was close to his reserve. I do not know how it works if someone has a reserve price on there. Even tho I have sold odd items of clothes on there and makeup I have never had a reserve price. I consider the reserve price to be the minimum price I start the bid at. So I thought that was how it works.0

The reserve value is what they expect to sell the item for, if the reserve isn't met then any bids are irrelevant, the item isn't classed as being sold.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

hi just followed your story and sorry youve had trouble, hope it works out for youxx
the item staring price could be 0.99 but with a reserve of £100
you can still place a bid for £1 but it would come back 'reserve not met'
hthI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
yes this item was listed 3 times. I bid on the item the first time then lost internet connection due to moving and it looked like the item was sold when I was back on line. I saw it readvertised and wrote to the seller about it. He said his partner had wrongly advertised it as merino bedding and not the memory foam mattress as well so he had pulled the item. the second time it was listed I bid again and did not reach the reserve. he answered someone's question saying he would accept £450 which was too much for me.
the third time he listed it and said he would accept £400 still too much for me so I wrote and asked if he would bring the reserve down and he said no but changed his mind when the auction was coming to an end.
I had no idea that I wasn't getting the item at the new reserve or how you do that on ebay dropping the reserve I mean.0 -
Just complain to paypal (you already have), complain to ebay, then tell him thats what you've done & also tell him that next you'll be reporting it to the Police & initiating a small claims court action unless he either sends the mattress within 3 days or refunds your money.
Don't take any flannel off him about being unreasonable or giving him more time, you've been more than reasonable, he's probably spent your money on sangria & cheap senoritas.0 -

I'm starting to doubt he even went to Spain, just buying time while he withdrew the funds. What a scumbag0 -
