((((hugs)))) to mrssnowy. i can't really think of any words that will make things better for you, but hang in there. things WILL get better, i promise x

well, it looks a bit hazy outside but the sun's still trying to come thru

i've got some buns baking in the oven already, and the washing's hung out. got to make a pack up for DS14 as he's got a 12 mile walk to do to raise money for his rugby club  rather him than me!!

gonna try and spend a bit of time in the garden if i can, sorting out all the tubs of veg i've got on the go. i think i'm gonna have to split some of the lettuces up as they're not growing as fast as they should be

at some point i'll have to go out to get some dog food and milk tho, so can't manage an NSD but hopefully i can find some vouchers lurking in my purse!!

hope you all have a great day xx

    Banana Brown Bread Ice-Cream - serves 4-6

Preheat the oven to 180C, fan 170C, gas 4. Whiz 110g (4oz) one or two day old brown bread into breadcrumbs then scatter them on a baking tray with 50g (2oz) soft brown sugar. Bake for 20 mins to caramalise the crumbs. Leave to cool then break into small pieces. Whip 400ml (14floz) double cream with 25g (1oz) icing sugar until the cream holds its shape. Mix with two over-ripe bananas, peeled and mashed and the breadcrumbs and freeze overnight.

The recipe doesn't say anything about having to go back and stir regularly, which is what appealed to me as I don't have an ice-cream maker!

The reason you dont need to stir it is because it is made from cream and not milk as this has more water crystals so need to be broken up regularly

You can also make ice cream from cartons of ready made custard too

I usually slice bits off a frenchstick i suppose you could use a loaf

i then spread with garlic butter i keep in a sealed pot in fridge(mix butter, dried parsley and garlic puree together)

And pop in the oven till its all melted

PS sometimes i put the butter on a sheet of cling film and roll into a sausage shape and pop in the freezer after an hour slice slices of the "sausage" and place in a tub (in freezer)that way you can take out small amounts as needed

    Morning Gang......

Forgot to add on the bits I got Thurs so will do that in a mo, altho I'm not counting the petrol _pale_ but should include the smelling salts I needed when I saw the price of it:p

Had a NSD yestrerday, apart from £2 on raffle tickets at a naughty knicker party....I'd won the bottle of wine at a pub quiz a while back & the offspring paid for that;) Let's just say the men are going to enjoy the chocolate treats I won this time:eek:

MrT does a respectable value frozen stir fry Phoolgrrrl--- it was close to the other frozen mixed veg last time I looked, between the onion rings & fish fingers:smiley:

Thanks for the photos Shaz--not that they will improve my [STRIKE]kna[/STRIKE]temperamental oven, but it's good to see 'proper' pix instead of summat that could've been airbrushed IYKWIM:lipsrseal

My deepest condolences MrsSnowy...my sister had a similar scenario when we lost Dad in the October & her FIL the following January:o Hopefully, it won't be too long before the sorrow you feel now is replaced by the happy memories of your time spent together.
