You can also flavour it with herbs or garlic before you freeze it. Make sure you wrap it well though - had a friend who did this and stored it in the freezer next to the icecream took on a really nasty garlic tang0 -
Well I did my first shop and OMG for the first time since joing the Grocery Challange and for the first in time in years have I acually looked at the prices things cost  . I acually put some stuff back and changed it for cheaper version.
My husband and kids think I have gone mad as I bought stuff that was reduced dated tomorrow, came home and split froze it. I would add that I NEVER buy anything and freeze it unless it is frozen to start with lol
I planned 2 weeks meals as I had so much in freezer and should only need a small shop next week. Unfortunetly nearest Tesco ot Asda is about 20 miles away so am going to try and only go once every 2 weeks and will use local shops for top ups in between . We do have a Lidle and Iceland in town.
So heres hoping I can keep to it.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -

Hi everyone,
Our first post for May but we are still sticking to the challenge. It's been a very busy time with yr 9 Sats and lots going on at work but things are settling down now and the sun's come out!
Did a big internet shop with Sainsbury's at the beginning of the month, bought some meat from the butchers and got plenty in the freezer. Just need to do some batch baking of cakes for packed lunches and of course the usual hobnobs. Popped into Tesco at just the right time the other day and there was loads in the reduced section. Picked up some stewing meat and some chicken thighs. Any idea what to do with them?
Spend so far out of the £340 is £152 so not too bad.
Good luck everyone.Mortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000

My mum visited earlier bringing with her cumin gouda and nettle gouda from Holland. both smell lovely.
I went to Tesco yesterday and bought 6 pints of milk. Nothing else. It was far too hot in there and I couldn't wait to get out the door into the fresh air. Off to the village fete tomorrow, kids have been saving their pocket money for the tombolla. I bet they end up with some really wierd stuff (and lots of stuffed toys).Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Just popped in to add £20.07 to my sig, mostly spent in Mr T, I even splashed out on some fab ice lollies for the kids(
they behaved like it was Christmas:o ).
Did anyone see the article in the Scottish Daily Mail where the woman kept a food diary, the amount she threw out was shocking. She threw out in a week over half of what I spend, and that wasn't including what she scraped off the plate as leftovers:eek: into the bin. I just wish I was her nieghbour, I would gladly accept all her almost OOD and just OOD stuff:o . It made me realise just how little we actually waste, and how much we save.:TGrippy is my middle name!0 -
While skimming through the threads I noticed a few comments about a really good cookery book with a title something like "How to cook healthy meals for your family with only a garlic press and a few saucepans!" or something similar! Can anyone tell me the real title so I can look for it at the library please.Mortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000
