    Hi Folks

Mrs M – can I declare for May at £194.79 – my purse is zipped and padlocked until Friday.

And for June, can you put me down for £150 please – we’re only around until 22nd and then off on our hols for 2 weeks, but I’ll be stocking the freezer up with meals for DD as she is holding the fort/dog sitting for us.

Off to read the June post now – see you over there!

Well I am shamefully over budget this month.

Wanted to come in at £280 and have managed to spend over £450  I have loads in and some will last for a couple of months yet, especially tins and toiletries. I may have to rethink the pet budget though as it just goes up and up each month

So I'm declaring at £450 and trying again for £280 for June

Best of luck everyone. See you on the June thread

  • Have thoroughly enjoyed this first month and am declaring may at £327.26 I know it's £27.26 over but I am pleased as my grocery bill was around £80 a month so being a 5 week month would have been nearer £400. Please put me down for £280 for June I am back to a 4 week month but DD is not having so many school dinners and it's her birthday at end of month so allowed a bit extra. See you all in the June thread
Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

  • Did a minishop today as I wanted something really quick for tea for the kids so popped into Somerfield for pizzas and baked beans and spent £2.76 So far, my food spend is £283.80 from a budget of £375 so I am well pleased! Not declaring it yet though as my last day of the May challenge is Friday. Ive been allowing £75 pw but in June I will trim it down to £70 pw. Freezer still bursting! July will be a difficult month for me as OH will be off sick from work for 6 weeks after an operation tomorrow for carpal tunnel and we don't think he will get paid as he has not been back a year since he was out sick before. Looking at cutting(stopping) my spending on clothes and petrol now. The latter is the difficult one!
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

Did you see my posts earlier about SSP?

If he was to return to work after the 28 weeks was up but then be ill again after commencing work then he would be entitled to up to another 28 weeks SSP IYSWIM (there might be a limit actually just gonna double check this...) Checked - There has to be an 8 week or 56 consecutive days gap where he is working between PIWs (periods of incapacity to work) before a new SSP period can begin.

As long as he's been working for a minimum of 8 weeks/56 consecutive days before being off sick then he should still be entitled to SSP (and thats if he had maxed out on SSP before. If he had less than 28wks SSP before then he should still get SSP now even if he's only been back 1 day) HTH

    Hi All

Well I am going to declare at £282.68 - from £250 altho I think it might even be more than that - nearer £300  probably. And that's after raising my budget this month!! So, at best it is £32.68, at worst probably £50 over!!

In my defence I did start this budget early so more like 5-6 WEEK MONTH. At least now I am really focusing on what I buy & using up what we have in - amazing how creative you can be when you don't want to go to the shops!

So Mrs M; I'll try again for £250 for June please! See you all over on the June thread....

    Hi all

I am declaring £353.56 for May. Not bad considering the previous month which was unmonitored we spent £596.33.

Mrs M I did ask to be put down for £400 but can I change that and go down for £350 instead please?
