Away for the BH weekend, and was very good, apart from a trip to an outlet place. There was a Julian Graves that I had only ever heard of on here. Went a bit OTT, but don't think they were very cheap. Kids got all sorts of snack things, pretzels, banana chips, thai biscuits, and I bought some pulses and rice.

    Spent 26.78!

Thought I was still going to manage the challenge as we only bought one meal, but when we got home DH had taken himself off to Costco to get a chicken for his Sunday lunch (while we had pot noodle) ignoring the cooked breast fillet I had left him. He got Pepsi and juices, spending 45.62 in total.

So I ended up (today being payday) at 292.13 for the month, that's 42.13 over, over 17%

Not too bad really I suppose for the first try, and have lots still in fridge, freezer and cupboards.

Think I might have got the message to him though, he went to the shop to get bread today for his lunches, and got sausages BOGOF and whoopsied eggs!
  • A little spend today as I got a KFC while hubby was having his op. Taking this from my grocery budget-although I allow proper "restaurant" meals in another budget. Only tomorrow now though and I really doubt there will be a spend.

I am declaring £286.51 spent in May (nearly £100 under budget)-whooppee!!

    Cutting down next month.

Thanks for the reminder Angel-Nikki-I will make sure we get it!!!
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

Went to Asda tonight for my last shop of May and spent £8.98.

MrsM I am declaring at £198.00:j

Only £2 under budget but every little helps - would have been a little less but I treated myself to maple syrup tonight as I love it on toast for a treat. I also bought garlic as I had run out.

Over to the June thread now

    Bye

I have done my massive store cupboard shop, over and above my regular monthly shop. I've bought enough day to day basics, dry goods, tins, baking ingredients, cleaning materials and toiletries to last me until the end of the year and, beginning 1st June, I should only need to buy whatever fresh produce is required. To date, I have spent a total of £666.95 of my £1000 grocery budget, which means I have only £333.05 to last me to the end of the year and cover me over Christmas. So... if I set aside £15 to cover the extra needed to do the Christmas/Boxing Day meals, then that leaves me approximately £45 per month for fresh produce starting 1st June 2008.

I had planned on spending £200 on the store cupboard items but couldn't quite manage it. Total amount after discounts and BOGOFs came to a grand total of £182.59, which included filling the freezer. I followed every tip I could find on the Mr T clubcards thread and, including my points vouchers, managed to get a staggering 1081 points, which will equate to £40 of Deals. I am one happy bunny this evening. :T

Good luck to anyone else who is trying the grocery challenge from this slightly different angle :)
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

OH in Red Sea for next 4 weeks then part timer over here in Spain until on resettlement Sept 2008 - can't wait.

June is a quiet month for us visitors wise but July and August goes mad with holidaying visitors.

Just back from the Netherlands - I love househunting - estate agents universally list properties that have already gone:mad: (just like over here:mad:  )
Anyway - spends for the last week and a half (when converted from Euros) £66.89 - but then we did get some expenses paid for by OH's company :o

One more shop tomorrow so officially May hasn't ended for me yet....

I have just been shopping and my total spends for my two weeks in may were: £79.27. This was from a budget of £107.10 so £27.83 under budget. I have been trying really hard to use up stuff i already had. so i am pleased with this:)

  • Well done everyone who managed it this month. This was my first month and total was £222. Was aiming for £200, but this did include one massive costco shop - more loo rolls than I know what to do with. Mrs M - Would you put me down for £200 again next month. Thanks.
