Almost the end of the month!!!

Have spent an hour today doing my very own Spanish price check in 3 supermarkets have 1 more to do once I've collected the kids.

Basically looked at next months shopping list and menu planner and collated 36 items including all food for packed lunches, drinks and snacks.I do not include and toiletries or paper products in my challenge.

Aldi,Lidl and Mercadona are done just our nearest supermarket Consum.

Examples of price differences in euro's -

    Chicken fillets per kg 6.50 / 5.98 / 5.49

    Sugar per bag 95c / 85c / 85c

    Mayonnaise 400-500g 1.18 / 69c / 69c

    Pork fillet per kg 6.50 / 7.88

    Rice per kg 69c / 85c / 65c

    15 Fish fingers 1.59 / 1.59

    UHT MILK SEMISKIM 1 litre 99c 65c / 66c

    Pasta 1kg 99c / 89c / 80c

    Flour 55c / 45c

    Tomato Frito like passata 35c / 29c / 29c

    3kg potatoes 3.40 / 2.89 / 2.39

As you can see wide varieties of costs involved.I'm sure I'll have a fab time tonight with my jolly highlighter pen sorting out my shopping list for the end of the week. Will let you know how I fair with all the most expensive and cheapest foodstuffs deducted to a monthly saving - oohh it's exciting.:j

I've just made the batter for Yorkshires and now I'm off to school.

Mumzyof2 - here I am back from w**k at last.

I use bog standard bread dough, I prove up a full bag of flour 1500g and divide up into 1/3s. 2 of the pieces make 2 x 2lb loaves, the other piece I divide into 2 and use 1 piece to make pizza bases and the other piece makes the chelsea buns.

I had to do it this way as I could only get two loaves in the oven at a time so used the rest to make something extra.

    Hi Everyone
Haven't been on much at all this month and unfortunately won't be able to read thru' all the posts so I hope everyone is well. I am going to declare an overspend yet again:mad:. I have spent around the £220 mark, so .....

MrsM please put me down for £220 for June:T

Hopefully I will make this. Well done to all for taking part.
The good news is I have just booked our summer holiday - 2 weeks in Crail, and most of the money came from cutting down my grocery spends:j:j:j
So a huge big heartfelt thanks to everyone for all the hints, tips, inspiration :T:T:T

DS into Yorkhill on Fri for another op, so some extra spends just now but well worth it. Anyway will go now and see you all in the June challenge.

How much would it be just to make the chelsea buns?

*Hangs head in shame*Can't believe I spent another thirty plus squiddillies in MrT yesterday:( The £4-27 in the Pet Shop for veg & doggie treats was fine, and I had promised that I was only gunna get yeast & m'be a few bits of F&V I couldn't get in the pet shop. I even allowed meself to get Quilted Velvet p-pk @ £2-75 in Somerhope.
Now I'm just so:mad: with myself cuz I had no excuse, except I won't need too much for a few days....
    • 2pt milk has gone up 4p>80p; they didn't have the local choice in semi-skimmed & that was still 78p
    • treated mesen to some value 'prawns'
    • got No3 shreddless marmalade on BOGOF
    • bag of MrT dry Mixer for the RSPCA trolley
    • 2xMrT's red label 80 t-bags on offer @ 68p
    • value ink refill kit for the printer but still only £3-50
I'm really going to have to try out the recipes I've been collecting instead of just collecting them:smiley: particularly as No2 is on basic Stat Sick Pay. I'm 99.9% certain I have the stores for 90% of the goodies  so gotta get off my heiny & DO summat.

So Mama67, do you think Millie's cookies would make an acceptable variation on flies graveyards/fruit shortcake/garibaldi? And any idea of how one would find a recipe for Digestive & Rich Tea biscuits...I'll go for a Google in a mo:rolleyes2 .....

Have to say Sav3r, that I've found MrM's economy chopped toms to be very VERY good. HTH:wink:

So MrsMc, I will declare my May total as £343:87 meaning another £6-13 goes to my Gift Fund:dance:

I would like to continue the theme by going for £350 for June.

Thanks for another good month MrsMc, & all power to your Kitchen Wizardry!
Most certainly would, I don't do these type of biscuits purely coz DS2 doesn't like any type of dried fruit.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
