    Purple princess...

fresh yeast has quite a long date on it, but you can break it into chunks and freeze...it only takes minutes to defrost once its out ;)

Really?? Longer than dried yeast????

Where can I buy fresh yeast!! :p

And if I used fresh instead of dried what's the quantity difference?

    Fankoo!!! :D

before i start, i have to ask....what does FM stand for? Furry Monster? Funky Monkey? Foxy Momma? :rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl:
Hi Mandy, yup Bobbykins is right it stands for FrogMiester (or Master) which ever you prefer. I like Miester (sp) as I'm probably half German, not sure which half, but sometimes my legs have a hankering for Ledenhose :rotfl:so that might be a clue. Anyway the story is that some lovely lady said that I was "As mad as a box of frogs" to which I replied "Oh no, I'm much dafter than that, I am the FrogMaster", and then I changed my Avatar. So know you know. However kissing me will not guarantee that I will turn into the Prince of your dreams :o.

Back to business. Had a delivery from Mr T today which came to £67 so will be within budget this month, which is not surprising as DS3 is on holiday in the US. Will update my siggie and confirm monthly total and June budget ASAP.

Well done everybody and good luck for next month.

    Love the FM

I am not sure that I should be declaring exactly yet. My wages are not due until 30th and I am about to do a Mr T order, but I doubt it will be delivered for a day or two. I had overlapped my previous order that came in at the end of April into my May Challenge, so I think I will probably add up my bits and pieces and then declare now. The tesco delivery wont be eaten until the next month anyway. (Except the babymilk my daughter needs for her baby now). She did buy her own small tin at the local shop, but she paid for that so it wont be coming out of my budget. (She also decided that she wanted to make a tuna and sweetcorn pasta for her lunch, so she bought the Tuna and sweetcorn herself. ) So I am not counting that either. Let me go do some figures....

Oops didn't do too well this time - £161 for May, so £40 over my budget & £10 over what I managed for April :o

    Will. Try. Harder! :D

Off to to join June now.
Proud to be a moneysaver :)

    Hi Purpleprincess

Fresh yeast doesn't have as long a date on as dried..but with dried you seem to think "its dried it'll be fine" only to find its gone out of bloomin date :rotfl:
I use about 10-14g of fresh yeast to 500g flour... if you break it into that size lumps and freeze then when you measure your liquid out in a morning just drop a lump straight in and it will defrost in a couple of minutes (just make your liquid a little warmer so the cold yeast doesn't make the liquid too cool)... you can leave the yeast to defrost 1st if you like but don't panic when it goes all liquidy..it still works just the same ;)

A lot of the supermarkets that have in store bakeries will give it you free if you ask :T ..some have stopped but i'd still ask ;)

Had some bananas that needed using up and some blueberries I bought to make DS1 some muffins with, so I made a combined one leaving out equivalent of blueberries in bananas if that makes sense.

Look and smell delish, so will get verdict when I fetch him home from football.

I am declaring £210, for May .. a tad over budget, but this includes going away over bank holiday and the greedy teenagers at service stations. Ah well, back on task for next month.
