I must admit though I am a slight snob when it comes to all the value stuff, don't get me wrong I HAPPILY buy loads of them and save buying them but I have noticed that the toilet cleaner is turned around in the bathroom so you can't see the blue value stripes, the toilet rolls have been taken out of the packet and the value washing machine freshner I bought has been put into a lenor bottle I was about to throw out, also the kids ketchup(Mr S 25p) has been put into an old heinz bottle but the kids did not comment so it could not have been bad:D
Also the value hand wash gets decantered into the carex bottle.

We are buying a house shortly and I have no right to be a snob as we have not got the money to be one but it is just because we haven't I don't want everyone else to know;) :D

Just been reading all the discussions on loo rolls. For those of you who have a makro card, they have charmin 24 packs on bogof at the moment. it works out at 22p a roll.

When I went in to get mine, there were people loading 10 plus packs onto their trollies. I would have, but I have so many bulk buys under my bed, I could only fit 2 packs under there.

DH swears the bed is getting taller! :rotfl:
Thanks to all the lovely people on here I have managed to cut my hours down to 2 days a week, allowing me to spend more time with my gorgeous Children. :j
  • Hi there
Went to Morrisons this morning armed with my £5 off if you spend £30 voucherfor The Sun. Between me and my sister we spent £34 but only on stuff we would have bought anyway Hovis yeast had 33% extra in it making it cheaper than asda's and toilet rolls value same price as Mr A and hubby's beer 2 for £16 so have really saved.
Have been getting 2 suns each day and decided if I am buying stuff I would normally buy then it is a saving not a waste. I mean toilet rolls don't go off!! next week I am bulk buying washing powder, washing up liquid, more toilet rolls .... My OH will think I am stocking up in case of siege well why not. will update sig later but am dangerous close to going over,( probably will with morrisons spends but means cheaper months ahead) but hey this is my first month and considering I used to spend between £70-£80 a week this is good going.

On the toilet roll debate I always buy value as the girls seem to use miles of it!! so I am not paying for expensive stuff I suppose cutting the sun's I've bought into squares is being too mse????????
Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

I always bought heinz ketchup but last week I bought asda own brand not value (yet) as I thought that might be a step too far. I delibrately put it in the empty heinz bottle and no one noticed - there would have been uproar I'm sure if I had left it in the asda bottle!!

Likewise I put value handwash in carex bottle but mainly because the carex one is small enough to sit on sink in toilet:rotfl:

All cleared up after 10 kids here for DS 8th birthday party, loads of cakes left can you freeze fairy cakes? All the sweets, biscuits, crisps all gone, out of all of it I only had....one toffee:D that will keep the weight off:D

Re toilet rolls I used to have charmin' all of the top makes but now it is MR T which is 9 rolls for I think less than £1, it is MR T value and no complaints, this thread has really opened my eyes to the money wastage, considering what I used to pay for toilet rolls to going down to the basics and saving money, it is truly surprising, they all do the same, just now I have a lot more pennies to spend elsewhere.

    :
Yes you can freeze fairy cakes! You can freeze so many things! Well done with mending the donkeys head too. I also use Mt Ts value T rolls but only for the kids who waste it as they are rather thin and you use quite a bit to get the same absorbency. Great for little ones though-I prefer something better cos my bum deserves it!

We are still eating the muffins I froze last week-is great having them midweek nd not having to cook all the time. Family are having to get their own today as Ive already driven down to Okehampton and back to collect bees and Im tired. MIL fed me too much for my diet so Im still stuffed-no tea needed for me!

Spent £38 on bee equipment but thats not in the budget. Bought 2 bags of sugar to feed the bees-now that I need to add. Working all day tomorrow so doubt i will spend anything. Spent £47.37 so far this week on food-only 2 days to go so I think I will come in way under bedget again. :j :j :j :j

    Evening all ,

    Quick update.
Only realised yesterday that we still have another week to go on our challenge and have got just over £10 left of budget:eek:  .

On a more positive note we are fully stocked and I have managed to convince OH that we will not need anything from the shop. Am hoping that alot of the things we have in already will last through June and maybe into july. So hopefully our spends will be less;)

Noticed last week that condensed milk is on offer at MR M 2 tins for £2.20 if anyone is interested.

When you use a "cup" for a recipe it doesnt matter what size it is-just use the same sized cup for all of the ingredients. Its keeping the proportions accurate that matters-not the size of the cup.
