I know this sounds like a really bizarre question but do you still remain employed by your company when you go onto IB or do you in effect resign? As you are being paid a 'benefit' by the state then your employer doesn't pay you anymore, but wondering how it works out legally??
Apologies if anyone reading this is now going like this:rolleyes: and saying 'dur!' but i'm a bit tangled about it all at the minute!!!

Heya JennyBee!
For some reason, we have been SOO good since Saturday when we both went shopping, with a meal plan in hand. We havent thrown away ANY food, and if there is any left overs, we are taking them for lunch the next day.
Also, it only seems that we cook for 4 on certain meals? Does anyone else get this? Things like shepards pies, lasagne, currys....... but if it is pork chops and veg, its ok...... weird I know!!
Hope everyone is having a good evening?!?

Just keep doing what you are doing-a few weeks from now and you will be amazed. I made muffins the other night. What didnt get eatedn that day were frozen for another day so cannot end up wasted because they have gone dry or gone off. Just a new habit I adopted cos I was a bit slack a few months ago. My waste liste was a total of £1.15-ok-not a fortune but that same money could have bean 2 loaves of value bread and 2 tins of beans! Thats how I think now!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
Just returned from a late night 'whoopsie hunt':D
Didn't really need anything but have managed to pick up some meat for next month - turkey breast joint big enough for 8 portions, 8 butchers beef burgers, 12 breaded chicken steaks, 10 chicken pieces in southern fried coating - all for £9.68. Plus enough fruit/salad for the rest of the week and bread for this week and most of next too. It's the first week that I have made a special trip for whoopsies and went to MrM and Mrsomerfield as these are nearest to me - will def do this again. Co-op is also nearish, anyone know if they are good for 'bargains?'
Still within budget quite comfortably as overspent last month and still using it up:rotfl:Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
We have to add another £42.30 and £2.10 (had to borrow eggs from the neighbour the other day and had to replace them now)
I only have to buy some fruit for the journey on Sunday. didn't even cooked all the meals for this week, as we (me and kids) are living on the leftovers. Less to worry about next month!
I am off now to update siggi and make a meal plan for june, (I will do MrT delivery before we leave, so it will be delivered the day after we return!)I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
High Peak Lass
If he continues to be ill after the 28 weeks SSP and cannot return to work he is then no longer employed by them. That is why he would then need to claim Incapacity Benefit. Employers can only be expected to keep the job open for a certain amount of time (unfortunatly for the employee). This is why there is a limit of 28 weeks SSP.
If he was to return to work after the 28 weeks was up but then be ill again after commencing work then he would be entitled to up to another 28 weeks SSP IYSWIM (there might be a limit actually just gonna double check this...) Checked - There has to be an 8 week or 56 consecutive days gap where he is working between PIWs (periods of incapacity to work) before a new SSP period can begin.
I'm not very good at explaining things so I hope that makes sense?

Just thought I would pop in and update things. 4th NSD for me and I think I can survive till Friday without spending any more.
Took two chicken breasts out of the freezer last night to defrost and this morning before going to work I bashed them (in between a layer of baking parchment) to flatten them. Then I spread a teaspoon of runny honey over each one and then out them in an oven proof dish and sprinkled two tablespoons of orange juice over. I left this to marinade in the fridge during the day then when I got home tonight I whacked it in the oven covered with foil at 160C for about half an hour until the juices ran clear. We had this with a big helping of salad and it was yum! The original recipe came from a cookbook I bought my daughter when she went to uni but I have forgotton the name. Anyway it was nice and simple and really tasty and quite healthy really!
High peak lass sorry to hear of your problems - hang in there!
Have a nice evening everyone

YoungBean - Completely agree about having more with things like lasagne and cottage pie. The OH would always take the left overs for lunch the next day. Now, though, I'm bulking them out even more with veggies and oats added to the mince that he can still do that but it'll also give me enough to make a completely separate couple of portions for the freezer. Amazing what you can do with porridge (although OH is convinced that I'm trying to save time in the morning by feeding him breakfast the night before!!)Jonathan Douglas born 20th January 2009 - 9lb 4oz

I remember reading somewhere on this site about the times the different stores put their yellow labels on but I can't find it now. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?May Grocery Challenge £254.16/£3200

Spent £4.36 today at the greengrocers. I need to go to Asda tomorrow for my last shop of this month, but according to mysupermarket, I should spend about £35.
Quite pleased with this as my challenge ends on Friday and I still have £100 left. I know that I'll spend a bit more next month as the freezer is empty so I have to stock up again as soon as it's defrosted. Thanks to all the lovely people on here I have managed to cut my hours down to 2 days a week, allowing me to spend more time with my gorgeous Children. :j0 -

That makes total sense and it was i was trying to say but not very clearly!!!
Will get OH to speak to friend tomorrow and get in touch to definitely confirm the date it runs out and take it from there. Got to try to get him to go to the meeting they've requested too, that should be as easy as re-painting the Forth Bridge with a toothpick! but hey, we'll get there.
got to write this bit small but, i'll give you an update when i know more as long as the PC is working
(seems to be ok at the mo,..:shhh: )
Thanks all for your help and advice
