scotsaver you enjoy your day, you deserve it after all that:D

Must have missed the bounty bites recipes mandy-moo can I have it please, I knew I bought dessicated coconut for something:D

    youngbean like your meal plan:D

We are having chicken pie tonight, shop bought from Asda only because when I was ramming the stuff into the freezer last night it would not fit:rotfl: :rotfl: I so wanted the pork to go in because I wanted to save it and not have to eat it today that the pie fought me and won:D

angelgraceland I agree about the nsd's, that is the key to this, more attention to spending and whether you need it or not or just buying it for the sake of it, through habit etc but if I had not had a fair few nsd's when I started this challenge there is no way I would have been able to stay within budget:rolleyes:

sorry, i think scotsaver got it wrong...it wasn't me that posted the recipe for these  i've just done a search and it was BigMummaF . i think this must be the one scotsaver used....thanx to BigMummaF :T

    200g condensed milk
    100g dessicated coconut
    8oz (approx) icing sugar
    8oz (dark) chocolate

    1. Mix condensed milk & coconut.
    2. Add enough icing sugar to make a stiff dough.
    3. Form into ball shapes & place on a baking tray.
    4. Leave in fridge, preferrably overnight, to firm.
    5. Melt chocolate & dip coconut mixture into it to cover.
    6. Leave to allow chocolate to harden.

right i'd best get on with things. i want to try and get to Mr M's in time for the whoopsies! catch you all later, hope you have a good one xx

Did my shop on Thursday for the month and now on 3rd NSD !!! That is great for me - I seem to have little panick's and HAVE to go and buy food - I usually panick after watching the news or reading a ouple of the threads on here about prices going up - I think it might be a symptom of my PND because I never used to be like this **shrugs** Oh well will keep trying hard not to panick and spend :)

Spent yesterday baking - 2x yoghurt cakes (toffee with choc chips !!), 2x Coffee Victoria cakes and a coconut bakewell cake. Also did Chili for tea and bulked it out with oats and used one of the Asda 30p jars - was so yummy - it fed 4 and there is enough for 2 portions in the freezer :)

DH caught me adding the oats but wasn't worried - the fact we had an extra £80 in the bank from my meal planning and GC balanced out the oats - lol - he even commented that the oats had given the Chili a nice creamy texture and it was really, really nice :)

Roast Chicken tonight with potatoes, stuffing and veg - then chicken curry, nans and rice tomorrow with the leftovers. Also hoping to do a soup with the carcuss and any left over / limp veg.

Hugs to everyone and a big hello to the newbies :) ((hugs))

    T xx

    Morning All :):)

Thank you! This is the first week of experimenting, to see if me and the OH can do it. I think we have picked up habits from living at home, so we tend to cook for four and eat for four :/ now its getting into a new habit of cooking for four, eating for two, and freezing the rest.
We were lucky with ASDA yesterday, cos normally alot of the Smart Price stuff has gone (bread, chicken, meats, etc) But we got 2 loaves of bread, which we will freeze one, then Cravendale is on 2 for £2 still, and they both will last until the 9th June! Which is great, cos the OH loves his coco pops!! haha

Told my mum about all of this last night, she laughed to begin with, but like a few people on here are saying, its better to start now, and pick up good spending habits. Mum even told me at the minute, she is cooking for eight on a sunday, and only feeding 3...so the amount of waste she has is awful. (Me and my sister have moved out. Both brothers still live at home, work full time, and hardly eat!!) So its nice I have someone to talk to about it all. Even if I do sound like a crazy woman!!

Everyone on here seems really nice :):):)

    Sorry to babble on

  • Hi All
I completed by fourth weekly shop for this month and it is looking really good. Spent 50.00 in total but that included two pairs of school trousers I bought for DS in next size as he is growing fast and I had a Mr T 250 points voucher to be used by 18 May. I only bought the 5.00 ones but these are a good fit and last just as long as the more expensive ones. I seem to be doing the opposite from many on here as I have LESS NSDs that I used to as I try and take advantage of the whoospsi and only buy when things run out. I only have a small fridge and freezer and with 4 of us find it hard to store enough for the week. Also by only buying things like yoghurts when reduced the kids don't feel I have completely cut out their treats. DD is making HM biscuits but using butter and making them large so they go too quick. She enjoyed the banana flapjacks I made. Will ask her to try and make some hob nobs. Will update sig after post

    Hi All

Not been around much but have been catching up on posts! Just though I would pop in & tell you that the Cravendale Milk Offer (2 for £2) in Mr A's is on til JUNE 3rd...

..wish I'd noticed before I rushed & got 10 bottles ....probably messed up this month's GC

Have tried a new tack this week; instead of meal planning have looked in fridge & tried to see what needs using up first to try & avoid throwing stuff out. Some things have been more successful (Morrocan Chicken using pkt of bulgar wheat found in back of cupboard), others interesting - fruit crumble made from a bit of rhubarb from garden, 1 mouldyish apple - & 6 wrinkly kiwi fruit!! Plus a grating of orange peel.....don't think it will catch on mainstream somehow, but we ate it all!! :rotfl:

A new cheap freezer is just what we want-the number of times I've had to walk away from BOGOFs and Whoopsies because the freezer is full.
Would be nice to freeze some fruit too over the summer.
