Hi everyone. Not posted for a while but thought I'd best let you know I've updated my sig and I'm now overbudget :o .
I tried to catch up on last months overspend which resulted on kids being off school for 2 weeks.Anyway I can't manage it and should have just let it go and start with my usual budget of £150 which I usually keep to.
I will put this down to experience and won't be making up overspend next month.
I will also have larger budgets during the school holidays!!!!!
lost my way but now I'm back ! roll on 2013

Huge hugs searching me,

and hugs to anyone else who needs them.

Hello to the new peeps:D

Just popping on to update my totals.
Spent £8.05 in sainsburys yesterday, although that did include a huge box of chocs for my friends birthday pressie ( I did buy her a few other bits and bobs too)

And last night when I dropped it off to her she gave me a huge lump of frozen beef joint as her FIL had given them too much to use so she shared with me so that now means I definitely have enough food to feed my parents for the weekend:T So will probably do roast beef one day and something with the pork loin the next that way my dad cant complain he hasnt eaten any meat whilst at mine
:rotfl:
Popped into the works shop in the outlet village today and managed to find marguerite Pattens victory cookbook for £3.99:T so going to have a bath and read it later whilst I soak (how old do I sound doing that on a sat night:o)

Good luck Young Bean!!

Keep us up to date with how you get on!!! We share bad days and good days, lots of fantastic advice and support given.

I read every post (yes, its time to join OS annon..but I love it ...)

This morning I've planned our shopping list for June (which is flexible but gives us something to aim for as far as savings are concerned).

Feeling a little bit mixed up as OB has been told he's being made redundant in September.. there is a good chance he may be given another position in firm but we won't know for another 2 weeks.

On the bright side I'm working and we may need to use our Challenge savings just to live on.. so thank godness we've got them..

SFT

Congrats to Young Bean - this is my first time on this challenge too - never to old to learn and I've just found out that I DO like cooking!

SFT - Same here, I'm addicted - I read and thank every post, just so I know I've read it, and have to 'pop on' each time I get an email - I really need to get a life I think, no wonder I'm not spending anything...:rotfl:

Just popped on to keep up with the thread - 4 pages at 40 posts per page

Hugs to all that need them - esp serching_me. :grouphug:

I haven't updates my sig yet, I need to search through my bag to pick out all the receipts. There is going to be a huge dent in the budget as we have had chippy/pizza hut and there will be a takeaway tonight - it's our 2nd anniversary so this is allowed. The kitchen is coming along nicely and hubby is doing a fantastic job. Hopefully next week I'll be able to get back in control and reign (sp) in the budget.

Evening all

I have just had my dinner...the thai curry n rice went down well and as for the naan breads nommy nomy nom nom..... my 1st time making them (got round to it eventually :p ) and they were stunning... they were lovely soft n doughy...would make a lovely sandwich im sure ;)
just in case anyone is interested...
1. 1tsp dried yeast -I used a grapes sized piece of fresh
2. 1tsp sugar
3. 1tbs warm water
4. 200g plain flour
5. 1/4tsp salt -I used 1tsp as bread with to little salt is nasty :D
6. 1/2tsp baking powder
7. 1tbs oil
8. 2tbs yogurt -I used Greek as that was what i had :p least i didn't resort to my cherry ones :rotfl:
9. 2tbs milk - I found i needed a little more
• mix the 1st 3 ingredients together -if using dried wait 10 mins for it to foam
• throw everything else into a bowl and add the yeast mix
• mix to a dough and need for about 5 mins-if you can be bothered :rotfl:
• cover and leave to rest for about 30 mins.. or until you remember
• cut into 4 and roll out to an oval shape -not to thin mind..mine were about 1/2cm
• place on a greased baking sheet and cover -leave for -well till you feel like it
• whack in an oven for 10-15 mins 140c/275f/gas1 until lightly golden.. don't let them get crispy
Going to put garlic in the next lot me thinks :D

Right had better go and let my dinner go down :rotfl: have a great one everybody :T

I am £126 over budget and we're only just over halfway through:eek: That means we have spent £426 this month on FOOD

I have checked my reciepts and there's nothing uneccessary so the only thing I can put it down to is overbuying on offers and whoopsies. I don't even go to the shops in between the weekly shop and I don't buy it if I don't normally use it even if it's on offer so I have no-one to blame but myself

I checked my freezer and cupboards and they are jam packed so I think next month we are going to do the storecupboard challenge as I really don't think it's going to dent what I've got in :o Yes they are that full ;) and I'll send DH shopping on his own next month even though he hates that as he's excellent at sticking to the list :A

One month I am actually going to stick within my budget I promise :rotfl:

Hubby thinks I've lost the plot. He caught me writing the date on my washing up bottle last night. I realised, with a week to go until Payday, I still have tons of stuff left under my bed because I completely overestimated how much I would need in a month. (Better to over than underestimate I suppose!) So I decided to write the date on things as I start them, to get a better idea of how quickly I use things up and he caught me.

Maybe I'm addicted

OMG, I did that with my soap powder last month, well 2 months ago!
I put a label inside the box it is decanted into, but of course I don't know how many washes I do a week,I suppose at least 7(just we 2).Have reduced the amount of powder, able to do so because we live in a soft-water area, therefore I did approx 56 washes out of a 30 wash box!!
My friend said to keep a record of the washes, but that is a bit too an*l even for me!!
I was very fortunate recently to have been given 2 bottles of Fairy liquid, but I do have a dishwasher.:rotfl:
DS 'popped' in this morning,he's doing a 600km bike ride over 2 days,so he and mates devoured the hobnobs!

• Kiwi88, I can sympathize, have had same probs for months!! - see my sig:eek:
I do have to say tho and about time too!!(smug smile:D) I'm coming in on target so far this month (can't remember exactly and can't be bothered to run downstairs) but I think I've spent around £280 so far with one week to go, won't need much as have plenty of meal foundations to make do 'til payday.

Had a good day yesterday, made meat pie for tea but had loads of pastry left (usually don't make enough) so made some jam tarts and a quiche (Yum Yum - don't think I've made one before, thanks Delia for the recipe) which we've had for tea tonight with salad and home made potato salad (mayo, cooked red onion with new pots and a splat of curry powder - scrummy just like me mam used to make!). Annnny waaay!

Good luck to everyone, keep fingers crossed I don't loose control on my last week and buy everything in sight from Mr Ts and home bargains (oooh I love that shop!)
