Well the Sainsbugs came and my total is now over target by nearly £8... not bad considering we had to basically restock because of the power cut.
Have Hollyoaks on and am going to gloss the window sil and pop a chicken in the oven once it's finished (so it's cooking whilst I'm painting) and then I'm going to pop the kettle on and finish the ATC swap I'm doing, owl themed, and I'm very chuffed with them so far.

Thank you for your help! Like I say, Im brand new at this :s

Me and the OH dont spend a set amount a week, its just put stuff in the trolley, pay on the card and just pray theres enough money in there!

It was a colleague at work who suggested that £35 to possibly £40 would be an ideal budget, cos then we are buying things that we need. Im not expecting to be spot on for the first month or two, but it means I can get a good idea of where I am going wrong, and what to do next time.

It is definately a learning curve.

    Thank you again :):)

I was at my Mum's earlier reading her copy of the Sun. They are doing a feature on the credit crunch next week which will include £30 moc for Mr M. There isn't a Mr M near me, but for those who do, it might be worth having a look at the sun on Monday.

I saw that going tobuy the sun all next week to see what it is about, money saved and all that:D
Got loads of freebies today for the face, hands, perfume samples, WHsmith gave my DS his little plastic monsters he wanted off the tele and the sun was doing a free pack of frutella but at the co-op and I have not got one near me:rolleyes: it is amazing when you ask at boots/chemists/instore how many free stuff they have to give away but hide under the counter and only give it away if you ask for it:D

welcome youngbean .....when i first read your name i thought lilmisskitkat had had her baby cos she calls it littlebean!!:rotfl:

i've been really good today :D went to Mr S to claim my free pint of milk, only to find out that none of the branches round here do the one pinters  so i used the coupon to get 40p off a 2 pinter, so that only cost me 36p. bought 2 and they've gone straight in the freezer. i also got some whoopsied Walls sausages, down from £1.89 to 99p and some mushrooms down to 50p

i've just had my tea...HM sweet&sour chicken, as DD17 & DS14 are out somewhere, and they'll be home late, so i couldn't wait for them

only have 1 more week of this challenge, then i'll be onto the June budget  can't believe how fast these months are going!!

Sosh - thanks for the heads up on the coupon, I'll keep a look out for that one:D

Youngbean and any other newbies - its my first month too and I set myself £220 because I knew I had two three course meals to cook for various family events this month. I think I'll be able to go a lot lower next month. Good luck!

okay so this afternoon i have made HM burgers and meatloaf (meatloaf in the freezer, ready to cook when the in laws visit) and i think i have enough mix to make [STRIKE]6[/STRIKE] 8 burgers, (i've frozen 4 before OH decides he wants more to eat)
have added to 500g minced pork,(and this is split between the burgers and meatloaf)
3 blitzed carrots, cup and a half of breadcrumbs, blitzed onions and celery (or OH won't eat it!) one egg, in just the meatloaf a blitzed pepper and ketchup, and in just the burger mix, some chopped up chorizo.

now i just have to hope it tastes ok ;)

tomorrow i have to make banana flapjacks for work, and banana bread for me and banana smoothie for my breakfast! can you guess that i have a lot of banana's!! :p

    Morning all
Hi there denise... yep the milk does go a strange colour but once defrosted it goes back to normal -give it a good shake as hubby couldn't understand why full fat milk was tasting like skimmed -until i told him to shake it as it kind of seperates

Thanks Mrs M, was a bit worried for a minute!

Have had another NSD today - second in a row and first two I have ever had:j , but not going to last as just planning my menu for next week and need to go shopping tomorrow - still Hubby will be away at work for the day so at least I can shop with my list and no little "additions" finding their way in the trolley :p

    Where has the sun gone??????

Its just that the milk has separated-it does that when it freezes. When you thaw it out, give it a regular shake -it will be good as new when completely defrosted and remixed.

Just caught Hubby looking at it - he wondered what on earth it was-thought it was another of my concoctions with the juicer :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ,

Thanks again for letting me know x
