Hi guys, found the cornflake tart recipe posted by SQUEAKY on another thread. This is it in case any one else fancies making it....
That's pretty much all there is to it... line a flan tin with pastry, layer some jam in the bottom, add a layer of cornflakes and gently press them into the jam.
You should pre heat your oven to gas mark 6 (200C 400F) while preparing the above and for a 9 inch 23cm flan tin you'll need to bake for about 30 minutes.
An alternative is to use golden syrup - then I usually put the cornflakes in first and drizzle the golden syrup all over the top.

Hi everyone
Haven't been able to keep up with the fast moving thread this month but am just reading posts when I can. So far this month I've only spent £29.98 out of my £40.00 allocated. I'm really pleased with this, think it is in part due to starting calorie counting to lose weight, (1) I eat so much less, cannot believe how much I used to eat, and (2) I've been using up things in the cupboards and freezer too, so am very pleased.
Cheers
Casper

Just wanted to thank everyone for the amazing recipes on here, have had a great time copying them and using them regularly when I find them, especially the fab photos of the finished items, they just make me hungry lol. Keep them coming, and thanx again.

doing quite well this month I think, and excuse me for a minute wile I have a little gloat,
spent £130 at Mr T - got a £13 voucher (ty twentyeight), got £20 of multibuy discounts (£8 of which on cat food), got 250 extra points = £10, + about £15 of half pricce and other reductions, so original cost would have been £145, and I spent £102 with £10 vouchers to come. :money: :money: :money:
also were discussing grocery budgets last week and worked out that a friend (single mum + DD(9)) were spending only £100 less than my family of 6 (2+4).
thanks guys & good luck out thereI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

I miscalculated my budget for May as I thought there were 4 weekends between pay days, but as soon as I realised I came in late, i.e. when there were only 3 weekends to go, I put one of the £50s (£30 shopping money, £20 spending money) back into the bank. Therefore, May's budget was £90 and not £120. Sorry about that.
Anyway, I've not done so well this weekend on budget, coming in at £34.64, £4,64 over budget. However, I'm not beating myself up because right up until April I was regularly spending between £50 and £75 per week (per WEEK  ). So this month could have come in at £150 - £225, and instead it's £93.26 - only £3.26 over budget altogether.
My new month starts next weekend with pay day on Friday. But it's a 5 week month between pay days, so my budget for June will be £150.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0 -
Afternoon all
Had my usual sunday NSDand it looks like i can get to at least Wednesday before i need to top up the salad and fruit..again ..
I still have ;- a whole water melon
- cantaloupe melon
- whole pineapple
- 6 oranges
- 8 apples
- 3 grapefruit
- 1 kiwi
- and some rhubarb
- oh and 3 nanas
We have had 2 days of solid rain... so some of my veggies are loving it.. but my cumbers aren't quite as happy  had hubby out this morning punching extra holes in some troughs before they turned into baths  . Have loads more flowers on other beans now :j and loads more salad leaves and beetroot through -so all that rain has had an effect
Hoping that apart from a bit of salad stuff and fruit im done until next months budget starts... still have loads in the freezer and cupboards..
Ohhh i will take that back as i had some leaflets this morning and there is an offer on, on things like colgate, washingup liquid..and allsorts of other toiletries/laundry stuff -buy 10 for €10 oh and get a free collapsible shopping basket free -so i might have to have a look and see what the other things are
have been trawling through my mags and have found loads of lovely recipes for using once the broad beans etc are ready.... can't wait...
I have noticed that we are using less and less meat as the weeks go by -think yesterdays thai beef curry was the 1st beef we have had in over a month... feta, cottage cheese and tuna seem to be replacing the meat... so i think once i have used what we have in the freezer... I may go onto buying organic...
right i had better get off and make my meal plan for June.. have a great day everyone-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Morning All
We were lucky with ASDA yesterday, cos normally alot of the Smart Price stuff has gone (bread, chicken, meats, etc) But we got 2 loaves of bread, which we will freeze one, then Cravendale is on 2 for £2 still, and they both will last until the 9th June! Which is great, cos the OH loves his coco pops!! haha
Told my mum about all of this last night, she laughed to begin with, but like a few people on here are saying, its better to start now, and pick up good spending habits. Mum even told me at the minute, she is cooking for eight on a sunday, and only feeding 3...so the amount of waste she has is awful. (Me and my sister have moved out. Both brothers still live at home, work full time, and hardly eat!!) So its nice I have someone to talk to about it all. Even if I do sound like a crazy woman!!
Everyone on here seems really nice
Sorry to babble on
Sooz xxx
Hi YoungBean,
Just to let you know, you can freeze milk - I know, I'm 45 and have only just found out, how sad is that! It's only by being on here that I knew, also found out it changes colour (was quite worried), and having just got one out of the freezer last night, yes, everyone was right, it does go back again! :rotfl:
I told my Mum what I was doing and she laughed aswell, but only because she knows what I'm like - a terrible mum and wife who feeds her family takeaway and readymeals - he he, only joking, but I was a bit like that, never had time to cook! Now, as the month has gone on and I have plied her with twinks (hobnobs) and HM cakes and the kids are telling her what a great cook I've become, she is looking at this herself now...
It's great to be able to get on here and air your fears and successes, everyone is great and will always help and support, not what you always get in the 'real' world, but here we are all like-minded.
Just keep at it and you will be a MSE in no time!:j
PS: You're not babbling, if anyone knows how to babble on, it's me, so don't worry about it...LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -
