(I do like your name, even if you do make me feel ancient lol)

    Hehe, thank you!

I did want my username to have Sooz in it somewhere, but all taken up! *tsk*

So YoungBean was the first thing that came into my head!

I woke up this morning feeling alot better about our money situation. Went out today with the OH to play snooker, demanded he kept EVERY receipt!! haha

Now I'm home, preparing myself for the sunday roast!

Just a quick question to everyone....what are basic ingrediants for Yorkshire Puds... for two people???

I always do it my mums way, and make enough mix for 20+ yorkshires!!!

youngbean i always make yorkies like this..........

    75g pl flour
    pinch salt
    1tbsp dried milk (cheaper!)
    2 eggs
    5 fl oz cold water

mix it all up and put in fridge for 1/2 an hour
put lard in the yorkie tin and get it smoking hot in the hottest oven
lift out yorkie pan, put it on lit hob to keep fat smoking hot
    pour batter in
whack straight back in the oven
bake for 15mins then turn oven down a bit till done
the trick is to have red red hot fat and cold batter

this makes us 4 or 5 yorkies about 4 or 5" in diameter xx

been to asda and aldi today spent £11.51 on food for this week and a lot more on other stuff as i took the family with me ( big no no knew there was a reason i did not normally do this) and won't be doing that again for a while lol.

This does now mean i have gone over budget for this month with over 10 days left so not good. but i have an over stocked freezer and should not need much for next month. so aiming to have a very low spend month next month. Just got to keep away from the shops now.
    Still Trying :o

Avoided the temptation to go to supermarket just for milk, so asked DH to get some when he went to our local Spar for his paper this morning (recently given up buying daily paper, just weekend ones now). We still had a 30p off voucher for Cravendale, so it couldn't be too bad even though I know Asda have 2 for 2 pounds. Also said he could get some solid Stork if it wasn't too expensive.

Well the milk cost 1.46, even with the 30p off, and I am glad he didn't get the Stork as it was 63p and Asda has it listed at 29p:eek:

Just popped in to update sig - and off to do some decluttering in the kitchen next!

Haven't been around much to catch up on posts... writing deadline in 3 days  then off to US to see my parents - my elderly dad has been in hospital and may get discharged the day after I arrive - so very glad I booked my flights even if it was on the credit card :o - because ultimately money is replaceable but people aren't! :A

My DH and I were both shocked today when we stopped into Mr S and I kept putting their Basics products in my basket - comparing ingredients and saying hey it's worth trying them instead - boy have I shifted! :D

DH's sister and her husband will be staying with us over the BH weekend so we'll have to put our heads together about cooking for 4 for a change (we're just not used to it). We just found out they've got their tickets to leave on the Tuesday instead of the Sunday as we'd first expected . Moneywise we're well within budget so far so not worried about the expense - DH and I just wanted some time alone before I go away. I figure to come back and look at some recipes on here after Wed. writing deadline and do some advance cooking, that'll help.

    Love to all,

    Saf
