Hi have you ever thought of looking online to see if it is cheaper I looked into it thanks to someone on this forum and have ordered my cat food £5 cheaper (and I was already ordering online which was £5 cheaper than the vets!!! So a saving of £10 a bag:rotfl: ) they also do flea stuff and wormers The flea stuff the vet wanted to charge £31.95  and online it was £18.80 delivered:T I can't do links but have copied top line so you can find it Home » Forums > Home, Work & Play > MoneySaving in Marriages, Relationships & Families > Pets & Pet Care » Cheap and reliable online pet supplies

This will give you a list of links to look through and compare.

Wow, thanks for this chocolateteddy. I looked through all the links (took a while :p ) but there was only one - I think it was pet-supermarket, but not sure - that was cheaper by about 50p at £18.80, but by the time you add postage and then wait for delivery, it was cheaper and easier to pop to the local farm - only 7 mins away.

It's only expensive because it's the sensitive food - the normal dry foods are about £14 - trust me to have a dog on the 'sensitive' side,:rotfl:

I will definitely go there for the worming tablets and flea stuff tho. this time of year is when you need it too. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction

    Just a quick sig update.

Had another big shop with Mr M yesterday, plus ordered yoghurt sachets in bulk, DS2 will only eat this and in one flavour, its exp when I buy but lasts ages.

Got 18.80 worth of BOGOF in Mr M, some not needed this week but you have to buy them while they're cheap. Don't worry, I do only go for BOGOF's on things I normally buy. DS1 & DS2 both learning well, they are starting to spot the best offers too.

Right, absolutely no chance of me coming in on budget this month as DH has been the one who bought food recently.
He got a lovely salmon last week for £5.
We've been mad busy out in the garden as the weather down here has been spectacular. Proper weather where it doesn't rain until 7.30 pm and it's a flash flood which lasts 10 minutes!
Catching up with the garden really nicely. It's now the 13th so payday in 9 days. I've no instant coffee in but got loads of tea bags. Also (still!) have loads of filter coffee so we'll have that in the morning. We've still got cravendale and we've still got cereal from the whoopsies hence the fact I've not been shopping for so long!
DD's front teeth are virtually hanging out now so she's not eating apples. Able to get away with giving her sultanas for her lunches atm.
I have spent quite a bit on icecreams and ice pops since last week.
DS was really sick on Tuesday and Wednesday and I think he'd completely overheated. I don't think he'd drunk much at all so I'm trying to encourage the drinks but sometimes he's more likely to have an ice pop than a drink.
I will actually get to the stage where I'm able to fit some ice pops into my freezer because we've now finally finished the sorbet.
When we get the next cravendale out I'll go on the hunt and make some ice lollies if I can find a set of lolly holders.
Yet to defrost the freezer- keep filling it up with more stuff.
Managed to get some of those amoy straight to wok noodles for 10p per pack last week too. Not had a chance to use them yet.
There's a slight possibility of me getting on here tomorrow and reading to catch up but I've had no access for the last 2 days. Don't know why and was not bothered enough to get up and walk to the modem and see what's going on with it!
I'm working again tomorrow night and have a fire lecture on Weds. Lots of tip runs to do with the garden stuff which are much quicker in the week. So not sure if I will pop in or not (sorry). A bit hanging really as I'm on my 6th night.
Got a nice few days off after though!

Think i`m going to have to change when my month will start, as OH wages will be paid in on the 15th of each month. I will carry on as normal up to end of month, then start my June budget on the 15th instead of the 1st.

I have been trying really hard to bring my shopping down even more, trying from £300 to £200 for the 4 of us. This seems to be more difficult as the food prices are increasing, but you never know I may get there.

I buy most days and only what is needed, I cook from scratch, I bulk cook. So not sure where else to improve, just hoping with my veg growing that this will save alittle bit of money.

Did a little shop in S yesterday and managed to add another £8.57 so have now spent £47.95 of my £100 pound budget. Couldn't resist the 2 for 1 olive oil but now have 4L so should last a while.
£52.05 till end of month -thank goodness i have Cravendale in the freezer!
Runner bean plants on allotment are covered with blackfly. Have just made up a garlic and washing up liquid spray to try to get rid of them. Not sure if it will work but it is organic and cheap!
Keep the good ideas coming. I love reading them all and being inspired to save more.

 YOU CAN FREEZE MILK??? Is it just Cravendale or is it any milk and does it water it down?
Wow, you learn so much on this site, I normally buy long life to keep as backup, but hubby likes it as it's creamy and great in coffee, so never lasts long.

  • morning all,

hoping for a nsd but we'll see how i go ;)

here you go Sharon, they are lovely!!

"How about making banana flapjacks very easy to make?

    125g butter or marg
    3 tbsp sunflower oil
    125g demerara sugar
2 tbsp maple syrup (you can use golden syrup but I think maple healthier?)
1 or 2 very ripe bananas (or 100g chewy banana chips)
    200g porridge

melt butter, oil, sugar, syrup over a low heat. Mash your bananas with a fork and add to the pan or add you banana chips snipped into small pieces. Add the oats and stir well. Put the mixture in a tin and press down evenly. Bake for about 20 mins 180C/350F/gas 4. Let it cool for 10 mins then cut into about 12 flapjacks."

i actually ended up cooking them for about 30 mins, they were lovely, and vanished very quickly.
