Happy Anniversary Zend, have a great one;)
I am a bit of a numskull, but I just wonder what you all mean by 'padding things out'?
I understand that obviously you want to make meals bigger so you get more out of them, but how do you do it? There are mentions of oats, cornmeal, etc, but I wouldn't know how much to put in (mainly so DH & DS don't know it's in there or they would moan... bless 'em)
Could someone give me an idea of what you do. Thanks
Had to go out to buy dog food today. I go to our local farm shop where I buy a big bag (15kg) of dried SupaDog sensitive - £19.30 - I have Toby, a 1 yr old Alsatian/Rottweiler cross and Max, a 2 yr old Labrador/Lurcher cross to feed, so the big bag is so much cheaper to buy. Max eats anything, but I have to buy sensitive for Toby, even though he'll eat anything, including food (or shoes, hats, bags, etc,) left laying around, it gives him a dickey stomach, not the nicest things to clear up  so best to be safe than sorry, which means no cheap kibble for me!
Also had to pop into Iceland's for DH as he wanted to buy some of those 'straight from the freezer chicken strips' (who says adverts don't work:mad: ), but in his defense, he did make up his and DS's chicken tikka masala dinner for tonight with them plus 5 extra ones including the rice for the freezer, so not too bad.
I also brought some chicken fillets, gammon steaks, lamb chops and a lamb joint for Sunday, plus 4 chicken Kiev's (don't suppose anyone knows how to make them yourself?) and some breaded chicken that DS loves. DD is coming over tomorrow as she wants a driving lesson, so will probably have to cook for her too.
Total spend with dog food = £38.39  , still at least we have stuff in the freezer now, so should only need to buy top-ups like milk now until next Monday (I hope!!!).
Am going to try to plan my meals for the rest of this week and next now - keep meaning to do it and putting it off! will update once done (speak to you all next week then :rotfl: )LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -
Well spent £22 in trsco tonight but got some good woopsies
2 scoth eggs for 36p (I think)
Allison seedy loaf for 33p
6 iced fingers for 12p
stir fry veg for 49p - we were havin it for t anyway and made a change from peppers!
Also stocked up on some toiletries, freezer bags etc and half price ham
Have also made sandwhiches in freezer now...
2 x ham and applewood
2 x ham and cheese with pickled onions in it
3 x peanut butter and banana (ope that will be ok!)
Half price ham and cheese from weekend cheese board splurge!
Now, can I freeze tuna and mayo for my pitta breads or will it be more ham and cheese?
Can stir fry veg be frozen? the tsco value mix bean sprouts, carrots and cabbage I think.
Also did contents insurance through quidco - £78 with possibly £70 cashback! First time using quidco and it hasn't tracked yet - should I worry?
Thanks.0 -
Ooooopppps:o
Completely forgot about Mr T's and F&V brought in there, damn, that was because it was on receipt for 6 bottles of wine which I put separate as I need to reclaim them (no, not for me but for a raffle prize at our local club) so I have an extra £12.55 to add  Thought I was doing OK for a bit...

No-you are not a numbskull cos you are asking! Numbskulls are incapable of doing that! Well if I was cooking bolognese for 4 people lets say, I would add about half a cup of oats and see how you get on with it. If you are happy, add a bit more the next time until you feel you wouldnt want to add any more. Never overdo it the first time in case you get the balance wrong as that would then put you off.
I often mix dried soya mince with my minced beef-again-try half a cup(soak in hot water first) then next time try a cup. Just experiment over time with it.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
£10 today spent because my supervisor forgot to tell me that there was no lunch provided on my training course...and the only place to buy it from was on the on site restaurant - needless to say it was not cheap
Hoping for a nsd tomorrow.0 -
