May 2008 Grocery Challenge

Afternoon to you all, hello and welcome to all the newbies and good luck to all with this latest grocery challenge. I just scraped in last month because of the last minute bulk-buy splurge on pasta & rice. My month runs 1st to last day and there are 3 adults to feed in our household and I haven't reduced the budget as none of the veggies are grown enough to eat yet.
6 pages worth here already, wow! I can never keep up with the posts on here. :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I have set my budget for £400 but I think I am going to aim for £300 in the vain hope that the difference will allow me to buy one of those Panasonic breadmakers that you guys all rave about.
I have a MR one which is really old, got it when BMs first came out and I am not that impressed with the loaves they are a bit bricklike in shape. I do use it to make dough and then bake rolls. What are the loaves shaped like on the Panasonic ones? Do you use them mostly for making dough then rolls? or do you prefer to make loaves with them? Just curiousMay Grocery Challenge £254.16/£3200 -

put me down for £400 this month please.
its getting to be like my school reports, 'must try harder' seems to be my thought every month.:o
Had a major find at the car boot on sunday found someone selling school catering type tins (you know the big oblong aluminum ones with lids, i gt a shallow one and a deep one. the shallow one is ideal for flap jacks etc and the deeper one will be great for sponge cakes that can be cut into squares and tucked in the freezer. Even the lids will come in as baking trays It only cost £5 for the two:T .SPC~12 ot 124

My first ever Mr T delivery arrived today, late  , I wanted to do a lot of baking, while ds was asleep, but suffice to say, Mr T woke him up so I only managed to make some fruit muffins, with the "help" of dd.
Mr T came to £102.43, but included a crate of beer for DH which was on special. He has agreed to try to cut down to 1 packet of biscuits a day  (He makes me sick, he looks like a whippet, yet puts away twice the amount I do. If I so much as look at a cream cake, I put on half a stone.)
I still have around £60 pw, but I'm hoping to only have to spend around £25. I only need fruit and milk once the cravendale runs out, plus some nappies for ds towards the end of the month.
While putting away my shopping, I did notice some items that I could easily get away without, but slipped into my basket out of sheer laziness. I must try better next month :embarasseThanks to all the lovely people on here I have managed to cut my hours down to 2 days a week, allowing me to spend more time with my gorgeous Children. :j0 -
I am joining in again
I will do better this month
I wish to declare my budget at £225 for May (2 adults DS 15 and DD 7)
will be checking in more regularly for ideas
