Thanks Giggslady for the recipe. I don`t usually do savouries, but will try these out today. Already done my choc and hobnob biscuits,( baked some ready and froze the uncooked cookies for another time) pastry was still frozen, so that will wait `till later. Chicken in slow oven at the moment, so just a quick cuppa and read some more posts.

By the way just remembered, bread flour in MrT was still 48p yesterday, didn`t get any as no where to put this now, but tried the Hovis white seeded flour out yesterday for a change and veeeerrrryyy nice indeed!.

Can you give me the hobnobs recipe, my OH loves them so I'll have to hide them.;)

    Thanks

  • Only just noticed we'd got a new thread! Better catch up on what i've missed already :)

I started my new month last friday, spent around £25 at Asda which was very good for me, then on Monday spent another £10 but that included quite a few treats as my sis came round for tea. So £35.18 so far :) I need to get some bread today as OH is back home tonight, i never bother when its just me and DD here because we rarely eat it.

I'll be shopping at Mr T's on Friday because i have a £6 off a £30 spend coupon for my local store. We're away all weekend and then next week OH goes away for 9 days :j :j sorry i mean :(:(;) so that'll cut the food spending significantly! I'm going to use the extra money to buy all the meat and stuff i need for my mega batch-cooking session at the beginning of June, so we dont all starve or have to live on takeaways whilst i'm in hospital and for the first few weeks when jellybean is here.

Good luck with this month's challenge everyone! :)

aw sweetheart you have all my love and sympathies about your cat. i actually do reiki, and i'll be doing some on my sister this evening, so when i'm finished with her (so to speak!!) i'll send some healing energies to your cat.

in the meantime, you can help your cat yourself. as your stroking him, ask Archangel Raphael (he's the healing angel) to send his healing energies to help your cat. you can do this every day, but only ask once a day, and then say thank you.

hope people don't think i'm barmy now, telling you to do this, but i do angel healing all the time, and you never know, it might help you.

love and (((hugs))) to you xx

Thank you so much for this! I'm actually feeling a little weepy now...:o

I've had reiki myself and it worked for me. I was thinking about helping Benson in this way but didn't know where to start.:A

  • Right - I've done some number crunching and I reckon that I can realistically do all my grocery shopping for May for the grand total of £180.

I am excluding the two birthday presents I need to get, and petrol - so that's just food, drink and any frittering. It should be plenty - but then these things are always easier to stick to on paper than in practice aren't they?!

It'll be interesting to see how I get on though - I still haven't had my statement through for April yet, so I'd like to see how mad I managed not to be during this last month after my £350 extravaganza in March

I'll be back for motivation when I'm having a bad / unmotivated / what's the point / I NEED chocolate day. :rotfl:

  • Count me in please MrsM, with £180 again. I bust my budget in April but that was the first month I've gone over and I did have a baby I suppose! With both pregnancies I didn't really get any cravings but they've definitely kicked in when I'm breastfeeding!! Last time it was fruit & nut chocolate from Netto (had to be Netto's). This time it's huge bags of Butterkist and home-made triple chocolate muffins :eek:. Mr M's have got the Butterkist on offer so I sent DH up there to stock up. He complained of getting funny looks for buying nothing but 2 kilo's of Butterkist! :rotfl:I'll be heading over to the weight loss thread at some point to see if I can wean myself back onto healthy food but not yet, eh? ;):D
  • Hi another newbie here, can you put me in for £320 please. 2 Adults and 4 children. We are usually about £400 but have been getting loads of tips here in OS the last few days so hoping to trim that quite abit. Already spent £85 in Asda but that included some serious cupboard stocking.

    Thanks
Hi Giggslady, no problem, these are Twinks hobnobs

    8oz sr flour
    8oz sugar
    8oz porridge oats
    8oz marg
1 tbsp golden syrup(i`ve used honey before and they`re still great)
    1 tbsp hot water
    1/2 tsp bic soda
mix flour, oats, sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan, stir in bic soda and add to dry mix. Mix well, make small balls and flatten on a greased tray, bake at 180c for 15 min.

I flatten my balls really flat, as my lot like these crunchy. But if you want these a bit softer in the middle, just flatten them a little. HTH

By the way baked off the savouries that you posted and very nice indeed. Think I will try without the sesame seeds next time and maybe try adding chives or a little onion.

Hello ooh my first post for this challenge.

I'm going well so far, havent spent anything since sunday (I shop on sundays)
my meals for this week are:
    1. Sausage dinner
    2. Chilli beans, homemade tortillas and rice
    3. breaded garlic chicken with baked potato
    4. Beery bacon pie and mushy peas (mmmm i love mushy peas)
    5. General Tso's Tofu
    6. Home made bean burgers
    7. Left over fish from freezer/chicken for bf

I also made chilli bean soup for my lunch for two days which was gorg (although I'll use less chilli powder next time, nearly burned my mouth off!)

My meal plans are kind of limited because of my boyfriend. The only meat he will eat is chicken or mince meat (but only in spag bol) which is why we mainly eat vegetarian food. I do miss lamb and pork but 4 years on I'm used to it...

I have everything I need this week apart from the brown ale for my pie (I forgot my ID in asda and as I get Id'd everywhere (I'm 22!!) I didnt want to risk it)
Oooh and also to who ever made the recipe for tortillas on here, you are a god!! I'm never buying them again!!
