I'm going well so far, havent spent anything since sunday (I shop on sundays)
my meals for this week are:
1. Sausage dinner
2. Chilli beans, homemade tortillas and rice
3. breaded garlic chicken with baked potato
4. Beery bacon pie and mushy peas (mmmm i love mushy peas)
5. General Tso's Tofu
6. Home made bean burgers
7. Left over fish from freezer/chicken for bf
I also made chilli bean soup for my lunch for two days which was gorg (although I'll use less chilli powder next time, nearly burned my mouth off!)
My meal plans are kind of limited because of my boyfriend. The only meat he will eat is chicken or mince meat (but only in spag bol) which is why we mainly eat vegetarian food. I do miss lamb and pork but 4 years on I'm used to it...
I have everything I need this week apart from the brown ale for my pie (I forgot my ID in asda and as I get Id'd everywhere (I'm 22!!) I didnt want to risk it)
Oooh and also to who ever made the recipe for tortillas on here, you are a god!! I'm never buying them again!!
Can you send me the link or recipe for tortillas, been meaning to have a go at making my own for a while.
Thanks

Hi Giggs, I freeze the mix, after I have flatten these. I lay each uncooked biscuit on trays flat and when frozen bag them up. Makes it easier to take out just a few at a time, instead of trying to prize them apart. I haven`t tried freezing the cooked biscuit, but i`m sure someone on here has and will be able to let you know.Grocery Challenge 2013: July week 1 £90/£87.41

hello everyone
I really would love to join in this month. I have drifted away from meal planning and pop into a supermarket to come out having spent £25 and still have nothing decent. I have no idea really how I am going to do, since the dietician has recently put me on a high protein, low carb diet, so I have been spending more on meat and fish and still have to cook for the rest of the family. So, I think my budget for 2 adults and 2 teenagers will be £300 for food only. I was thinking of keeping that money in a seperate purse. Will that work do you think? And if I buy other stuff in the supermarket to pay with card or other cash, What do you think?
Does everyone else include toiletries, snacks for kids etc as well? (I think I can improve greatly on that score, forever nipping into shops after school for sweets and juice)
Good luck everyone and I think you are all wonderful and thanks a lot for all your inspiration.:T :T :T0 -
Have just been out to check on my new venture of growing my own veg. Lovely surprise the runner beans are `running away`, all of a sudden. Have lettaces coming through as well as toms, cucumbers, peppers, marrow, sprouts, purple sprouting and cabbages. The peas are still `sleeping`so will have to see about them, and dwarf beans are popping their heads as well.
Thats me done for today, must really get on and do some more housework, before I pick the tribe up. Catch you all later.Grocery Challenge 2013: July week 1 £90/£87.41
