Hi TheGiggsLady - just wanted to say a big thanks for the Cheesy recipe, just "product" tested one and they are sooooooooooo yummy.:T :T Managed to find some Sesame Seeds lurking at the back of the cupboard, just used 1tbsp of Worcester Sauce as that was all I could squeeze out of the bottom of the bottle but they still taste gorgeous so thanks for that. Now need to find somewhere to hide them from the kids, only joking.:rotfl:"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

I'm in again, £220 for 3 adults and 1 child. Only went over a bit last month and that was due to stocking up on flour, tomatoes, rice and pasta.
Still have some meat in the freezer too, so it shouldn't be too difficult.(she says lol).
Going to do my monthly trip to the big 4 tomorrow so we shall see what that brings!
Good luck to you all in the grocery challenge - off to make a dent in my flour mountain and get some baking done.

May I sign up as well please with a best guess of £450 for May?
Budget to cover food, household and drinks for two adults, two full time small children, two part time teenagers, three cats, two dogs, four chickens and two fish.
gunsandbanjos - you asked about Makro meat. Not especially cheap or nice in my experience, really poor beef. I buy it if it is reduced but otherwise the butchers is same price for far nicer meat. The bulk packs of bacon are ok, couple of kilos which you can split and freeze in small portions. They do huge trays of chicken breats which are worth buying on offer to freeze in small batches - bit bland but ok in a curry. tbh I havent bothered since discovering the joys of Aldi.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -

Hi all
I'm in again for £140 this time although my targets are getting increasingly notional. I keep thinking that I'll get a better grip on spending this month and then failing. That said though I'm still spending a lot less than I would if I wasn't on the challenge!
So far a £50 shop at Lidl. They are to have an offer on olive oil at sainsburys this week so heading to stock up - I'm planning to buy enough to take me through the summer when we get through loads of the stuff. Thus allowing a bit extra on the budget.
Had a look back on the april thread and didn't you all do well (don't count myself in that) Good luck for May

Hi mumzy- I was stalking you earlier wondering where you'd got to!
We just had the chicken thing- quite bizzarre in a not too bad way. None left though. So tomorrow will be summat else. Just need to get it out the freezer. Think I might make cottage pie from one of my bagged up frozen minces. That way I can use up some more of the going soft veggies and have veggies with it for tea. Then we can have that again on Friday for tea.
We're all out on Saturday too so no tea to think about then.
Lovely loaf today from the BM- in fact had 2 sandwiches before tea as I was so hungry.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Yay!! :j
Managed another NSD!! thought i was gonna have to go to the laundrette to dry all the washing i'd done cos the weather was lousy, but the sun came out and i managed to dry it all, so it didn't cost me a penny
hopefully i should only need milk tomorrow, and we're steadily working our way thru the stuff in the freezer0 -
Whoops, didn't realise we were in May already.:o
Can i put last months down as a £54.29 spent :T (over £30 underspend:D )
I think for next month i'll have to up it a little, so for May i'll say £95The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0
