I went reluctantly to Mr T and got some tins of curry sauce for 4p!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Needed some fresh fruit and salad. I do buy a lot of cheap stuff but we always have some fresh fruit!
I am doing my food budget running from Sat to Friday. So far this week Ive spent £51.59. No online shopping orders this time so Im spending it during the week. I have £23.41 left for the next 2 days so I should come in under budget. Freezer is bursting and cupboards have had a good tidyup!
When I went around Tesco today I lookat at all he stuff, telling myself-I dont need that-I dont need that! Feels good! Got a bag of white fish fillets in Mr T also for about £1.69? Really cheap! I can see fish and chips on the menu one night for a pittance.
Got my milk in Iceland though as they are cheaper at £1.10 fir 4 pints.
Another loaf of HM bread today and I ate up one of the sausage casserole I had frozen. Treated us to some cheap bickies too-choc biscuits only 25p. Custard creams about 27p
So its fish and chips and curry and rice on the menu laer in the week. All cheap flour was missing by the way-didnt have time to go to Lidls. So doubyt I will get any more HM bread this week.:(
For anyone watching the chicken and the egg-the chickens have gone up and the eggs have come down. Trying not to buy anything but freerange but was bad and bought the battery eggs at 27p per pack of 6.
I will try to be good next week-hopefully have some funds over. Didnt buy chicken though-I bought veggymince. Well-Im getting better but "not there yet". Oh my spending figures are only for "food"-absolutely nothing else! In other areas Ive had to spend a lot!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
Sounds like you had some bargains there. I don't buy eggs from Tescos, i go to a local farm shop. It is far cheaper and you can get three times as many for the price of a dozen at tesco's and they are free range. Every little helps as they say.
Just a quick thought.. Farm foods do a cheaper range of Quorn products if you like veggie mince.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -

6 oz caster sugar
8oz sr flour
2 eggs
1 lemon juice and zest
cream marg and sugar add eggs one at a time as not to curdle, add zest and juice then sifted flour mix well, (the mix will look a bit thick)i used to put it into two seperate tins one loaf and one round but yesterday i put it all in a loaf tin(well greased with marg and baking paper) and cook on 180 gas 5 for twenty mintues then turn down to 150 until cooked, approx 15 min...put a knife through itto see if its cooked there shouldnt be any mix on it when you pull it out, then leave on a cooling rack....if you can wait that long our lot never can...............enjoy!!

morning all,
well i popped to MrT's this morning pre work for a quick run around and to get OH's b'day card for tomorrow.
spent a grand total of £5.87 (after OH's discount:D ) and they had a MASSIVE display on the way in of value products, gives a good idea of how seriously the stores are taking everyone cutting back. tho i resisted the giant pack of biscuits by thinking of how many loaves of bread i can make for the money ( 5 or 6 by the way)
off to update my siggyNonny mouse and Proud!!

Hello everyone!
this is the start of my first proper month of GC and I'm raring to go!
Am in the process of compiling a shopping list, need to menu plan later then hopefully will go shopping tomorrow evening when I have to go and pick my son up from Bromsgrove -got a choice of Asda or Morrisons there - not sure whats the cheapest. Good luck everyone, hope you all come in under budget this month!;)Do what you love :happyhear0 -
A big first for me, im usuallyin there for at least an hour and a half.
But with meal plans already done i was tooled with short shopping list, i guessed it to be about £30 (depending on wether i decided to get pamper's nappies or try stores own brand).
It came in at 21.87 with pampers nappies and just a couple of extra items i missed off the list :T.
It definatley helped putting the baby in her pushchair and using just a basket.
Good luck to all..... WE CAN DO IT!:rotfl:0 -

I saw last weekend that Morrisons have Heinz on 3 for £1 - until (I think) the 11th - was going to stock up at the weekend but 5 for £1 is even better if we can confirm where it is.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
