I love a shiny new thread:j :j but didn't this one take off fast!!!
So many of us here on the GC waggon;)
I have broken into my May budget tonight with a trip round Asda. I spent £21.30 mostly on fruit and veg but I also got a few things in for next week when I abandon OH and DS while I party in Magaluf:rotfl: :rotfl:
I just hope that I have some budget left when I get back!!!
Must ge the leftover chilli from tonight into the freezer for them to eat while I'm away - otherwise DS will demolish it tomorrow, and I have to get some chicken out of the freezer to make tomorrows pie. I must admit that the one thing that has kept me just about on the straight and narrow with the GC has been making a weekly meal plan and sticking to it. The trouble is I plan to use what I have in stock and by the time I get to the end of the week I have more meals in the freezer that I had to start with:D One day I might get the freezer low enough to get it defrosted!!
Anyway enough of my ramblings - good luck in May everyone.0 -

Reading these GC threads for a few weeks now and have tried some of the recipes. I think it's time to join in officially. Last few months I have spent so much on groceries. I find it hard to resist the Costco special offers and when I go I buy too much of other things too. The problem is that I usually go on my way home from collecting DD from drama class and also have DS with me.
Sometimes I am very good with what I buy there, a cooked chicken hot from the spit always does us three times, once hot, once cold or curried, or wraps etc, then soup. Other times though bulk buying backfires when they go out or don't want things.
I have been very good though this week using up a lot of fresh stuff, so have now got carrot and coriander soup, carrot and apple soup and broccoli soup in the freezer and a medium sized pan of ratatouille ready to join them when I make some space.
I normally spend about 400 pounds (no symbol) for four of us (DH, DS 17, and DD 15) although this is just a guess as I close my eyes when putting in my PIN!
I would really like to get this down to about 250. I think I can do it this month with so much stock in already, and this might motivate me for the future.
I used to be good at home baking, but that was before the last two arrived and I work full time. I went for a job interview last year and one of the panel that I had last worked with nearly 25 years ago told the others that they should employ me as I made lots of cakes for them!
I get paid on the last Thursday of the month, so May is 5 weeks (much better in the old job when it was the last day) but have only spent 10.56 so far buying F+V and some herbs and spices on Saturday (and driving past Costco 4 times, that was difficult to do).
Hoping to get inspiration from the experts.0 -
Hi Mrs M Please put me down for £375 for the 5 weeks!
Thanks Mrs M!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -
I've spent 55.73 so far, that includes 4.48 on nuts from Julian Graves as everything was half price. I wanted to spend so much more but held back. OH usually takes the car to big Mr T but this week we walked to our local store so saving on petrol as well as groceries. Usually get all our shop from T but have been to Asda to pick up the bargains. I can confirm the 6p jar of curry sauce is great - I used it with fried onions, green lentils and spinach with rice. Bought 8p noodles for DS to have after school before dinner - he comes in famished. He doesn't use the flavouring but adds soy sauce instead. I shall be stocking up on these this weekend. Spag bol for dinner today made with a mixture of quorn and soya mince from freezer as they were opened and needed using up. What is left I will add more onions and dry soya to tomorrow and top with potatoe for a cottage pie. Made a batch of flap jacks and rock cakes for lunches. Will try cheese savouries next. I have lots of tins of beans to use so if anyone has any tried and tested bean burger reciepes I will be very grateful to hear. Off to bed now. Night all.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb

Don't use up all your beans, have you seen how much they have gone up recently?
We were only paying 1 pound for 4 tins of Heinz, now nearly 50 pence each tin.
I think it is the shortage caused by the combined weight lost by weightwatchers members. My daughter has a mound of them in her bedroom to reflect her recent successful weight loss, tins that is, not just the beans.0 -

I bought borlotti beans for 18p and have chick peas, haricot and butter beans cooked and frozen. Various others such as kidney, mixed, butter in tins. I saw someone is selling 5 tins for a pound so shall stock up again when I find out where (Somerfield I think.) We are all veggie here so beans are a big part of our diet but I am quite boring with them. Need new ideas.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb
