Welcome newbies, well done Mand (washing drying!), thanks for the cheesy recipe (too far back, forgotten who...eyes all googly...thread taking over my life...it's only the first day how can it be page 7???!!!), sorry about the poor kitty, thanks for the lemon cake recipe...I think that's all.
Phew.
I still can't get the hang of meal planning, I'm just not organised enough. I know I'm not the only one, but I'm a single working Mum and there don't seem to be enough hours in the day - not enough that I'm awake anyway! Whinge over - off to wash up, hang up the washing, and maybe make a cake!
Happy May everyone!0 -
Evening everyone:D
Managed a NSD today... mainly because i bussied myself in the garden..heck you should see everything coming along :j more carrots are through, i even have a flower on one of my peas  they are only about 4" tall :rotfl: ...so i have been costructing wigwams and planting some more beans out -after i had untangled them they are over 2ft tall..and they are now tucked up under fleece -all snug and warm:T
Tomorrow -hubby is off work so we are having a jaunt out as a lovely army wife -who also posts on MSE has offered me lots of pots and 2 black dustbins (more potatoes :j ) as they are moving away and can't take them with them.... bless her little cotton socks... so whilst we are out that way i will be stopping off at the NAFFI..whilst chanting "only fruit, veg, and milk" and trying my best NOT to be lured by the "whoopsy" stickers
Glad everyone is off to a good start..and great to see so many newbies :T-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Thanks Mrs M! So far...nothing spent! Would be great to come in under budget again, but I'm not too confident. Best of luck, everyone!Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
I had a GC NSD today.
DH went fishing with some people from work. It cost him £40, but he brought 3 ray and lots of dogfish back. He is just gutting (or whatever you call it!) them.
Guess I wont be buying fish for a while.
Tomorrow I will be doing our monthly MrT shop. I have decided to pop into the shop, instead of having it delivered.
Does anyone know, by what time they empty the fruit and veg shelfs???
I have to go after the kids are in bed.
EgonI wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
Hi everyone,

Hi I'd like to join in the Grocery Challenge please. I've been following the last couple of months and have picked up loads of hints and recipes. I used to cook a lot when my children were small and I was at home, but since starting to work full time and cater for teenage comings and goings, meal plans and cooking from scratch seem to have gone out of the window. I now have only one teenager at home and now seem to have more time in the evenings to myself to start cooking and planning again. I have lost weight recently and want to stick with a healthier diet to help me keep it off.
My target is £200 for myself and 18yr old son - to include all toiletries/cleaning stuff/groceries, a bottle of wine a week and a takeaway once a month.0 -
Going with €300 again, wont be around from 22nd but DD4 and DGS2 will be here and needing food.
So €300 Mrs MC please

Finally managed to catch up. Can't believe there are 7 pages and its not May yet
Did my first spend out of my shiny new budget. £2.99 for cat litter in Co-op (cause I forgot we needed some) and £18.42 in Home Bargains. Stocked up on food bags, tin foil, stardrops etc for the whole month.
Going to retail warehouse at weekend to buy cat food, wash liquid, air fresheners, kitchen roll, beans, cheese etc. Had a look at the offers sheet that comes to my parents shop and all these are bargains this month. There are always more when you get there plus loads of damaged boxes that they sell really cheap. Don't know why I didn't think of going there before  We'll have to see if I "save" anything by going for bulk buys.
Good luck everyone, hugs to those that need, welcome to all the newbies and get well vibes for those who are feeling poorly (including the pets)
Night, night:xmastree:Merry Christmas0
