zend sorry you're feeling down, i hope you're feeling better soon ((((hugs)))) :A

well i've done a meal plan for the next 2 weeks, and i've worked out that i should only need to spend £20 this week on milk, loo rolls, f&v, chocolate, bacon and dog biscuits  thing is....how do i force myself not to spend anything else on stuff i don't really need? i've made a list of what i need for the week, but i always find it hard not to impulse buy! what does everyone else do?

i'm gonna nip to Mr M's in the morning as well to see if i can pick up any whoopsies, cos that's the highlight of my week :rotfl:( i am only kidding!!)

    Evening all,
Hugs to Mrs Snowy and Zend.
    Congratulations to Jenny Bee:j.

    Superspam
I just use Ecover washing up liquid for washing mine and families hair, i do water it down a little.
I saw it on here somewhere (index collection )

    The reason I use this.
I want to cut down our use of 'sodium lauryl sulfate 'products, and I can't afford to get stuff like green peoples shampoo. so I thought i'd give it a go.
I do use conditioner but not on every wash. ( which i water down too.)
then i put 1 cap full of distilled vinegar in a cupful of tepid water & pour over. then i rinse again with just tepid water. it works honest!

Couldn't see any value choc chips anywhere on shelf or when I read the lables, so brought a value bar of cooking milk choc for 39p and I'll grate it instead (hope that works:undecided , will let you know!)

When I run out of choc chips I just chop up value chocolate into chunks. BTW Tesco does the same bar of choc for 23p - its with all the normal bars of chocolate ;) They also strangely have two different prices for value plain choc - 28p and 39p

    JennyBee Congratulations :j

    Zend ((((((Hugs))))))

Thanks for this Nikki, I'll try chopping instead, just annoyed now that I didn't check the choccy section out  (which was right at the end of the same aisle) I was going to as well to see if any chips were there, but didn't trust myself!:rotfl:
Was just thinking of bringing that point up to them, but knowing Mr T's, they'll increase 28p bars to 39p... :lipsrseal Think I'll keep quiet!:lipsrseal

  • Hi everyone!!!

Just caught up on the threads and its been emotional

    Thinking of you Mrs Snowy
    Hugs to Zend

    JennyBee-Wow! What fantastic news...congratulations!!

Like others-I can't wait for all the fruit and veg to blossom in the garden.

Well we went to Mr T this afternoon for a few bits and I realised how much I've changed when buying food. I kept to my list but did have a nose at the whoopsies..which were being filled up at the time but because they weren't needed/dirt cheap I just walked away. Smuggled a couple of MOC through self scanner. Feel very proud of myself and of course OB who has been brilliant in this challenge.

I'm a changed woman- I've gone from buying anything to using a list full of ready meals to now cooking (never was interested before.. but with OB it is a real joy)/making my shopping list from my meal planner/using lots of value products and being MOC crazy. And it really is down to this (addictive) Grocery Challenge and all of your support. Thank you.

    Have updated my sig

    Have a great evening

Just wanted to add a separate quick THANK YOU to everyone out there. Managing my money has never been my strong point, try hard but waste lots, and this forum has made it so much easier for me.

I have to put my spend in black and white which makes you think Uh-Oh! and you tend to stop yourself then walking around the shop. a quick check on here each day to see what everyone is up to and if there's any new recipes (I tend to say thank you to each one I have read so I know where I'm up to or I get lost - and I genuinely am thankful) just gives me the buzz to carry on saving.

I have just asked my bank to open various different accounts - piggybacking I think Martin calls it - so that I can separate up my money and then we can only spend what's left, another thing I don't do, so am getting there.

Also, thank you to Mrs M - I've always wanted a veg plot, but because of moving about so much since bankruptcy am not in my ideal home yet (7 moves in 8 years) and we are looking to exchange again soon to the 'final' location we want, but you have given me a great idea to grow veg in pots and hanging baskets etc, so I can still take them with me if we go! fantastic:T

so anyway, A MASSIVE BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE ON HERE:beer: and remember, if you mess up, no worries, there's always next week and we can all do it if we stick together.

    Happy Money-savings,
