Thanks for all the congratulations :) it's a bit scary though!

OH is thrilled....although that could be because I can drive to his works Christmas do in December as I won't be drinking!

Feel quite bad as brother in law is here from Oz so feel like we should tell him but obviously don't want to tempt fate! He'll have to wait for a couple of months. (Had to post it on here as felt like I was going to burst with the news!!) Sorry to go OT :)

Another trip to Mr T today spending around £31 taking my total to £100  although I'm hoping this is most of the big stuff for the month and it's F&V topup only for the last two weekends of the month. I spent around £10 on f&v today and would hope to keep it around the same then which would keep me under my £140 budget for the month. Keeping everything crossed anyway :)

Welll, a no spend week for me as far as groceries go:j . However, I've been feeling pretty rough for a few weeks with back pain and depression, just could not face cooking so have been having takeaways and meals out which OH has paid for. I really must get my act together.
    January spend = £100

Have just updated siggy. We had two friends over for lunch today and along with salad stuff from the veg box, I made up a cold lentil salad, hummus, potato salad and baked the quick herb bread from the recipes a few days ago. Everyone in the house (DH and one of our lodgers) was salivating over the wonderful smells from the oven - result!

I like what I read of the posts when I can catch up with them, but am not managing to read every one - which I'm sorry about as there's lots of good stuff in here (and more yummy-sounding recipes:T) !

    Love to all,

    saffouri

Hi Zend - sorry to hear about your back - dealing with ongoing pain is no fun. Hope you can be gentle on yourself too.

Don't know whether this helps or not, but sometimes when I'm most down and not feeling like cooking, that's exactly when cooking a good meal cheers me up.

    Soothing thoughts

:j :j :j Congratulations JennyBee, tell your BIL and let him celebrate with you - I'm sure your OH is dying to anyway! :j :j :j

Have just got back from Lidl's & Mr T's - really good, only spent £6.09 in Lidl's on some basics (including £1.99 for 12 fab lollies - treat for the kids??? ) and £5.72 in Mr T's on top-ups so that I can make some of the lovely things you've all been talking about - only forgot baking powder & Bicarb as I could have sworn I had those already, and now I have read that gorgeous sounding lemon sorbet ice cream, I need some more lemons, so will have to go back for those tomorrow!

Couldn't see any value choc chips anywhere on shelf or when I read the lables, so brought a value bar of cooking milk choc for 39p and I'll grate it instead (hope that works:undecided , will let you know!)

That must be the first time EVER that I have been in Tesco and spent under £6 - I just kept blinkers on and stuck to my list... really chuffed with myself :D:D

Only item not planned for was £11.99 we had to spend in Tesco last night on some quick, cheap reading glasses for OH as dogs ate his while we were out:rotfl: (Yes, I did say ate, Our totally fat, friendly, lazy Alsatian/Rottweiler cross chewed through the case, started on the glasses and we still can't find the other lens!! ) Soft as old boots but does like to chew if we leave him ... down to the butchers for some more bones I think!

Just going to update siggy now to include new spend, think I am still on track but will need to do a big shop next week?:rolleyes2
