I just put together a leaflet advertising transcription/typing service and sent to a few universities in the area, also emailed friends and asked them to email to all in their email address lists. Word soon spreads, but I do have a lot of friends working in universities and in research organisations that would use this service.

Thanks! I'll put something together, no harm in trying I guess!0

I think most of those sort of offers are scams (especially any which ask for a fee). You could try offering your skills on one of the freelance boards as suggested by a previous poster?

Here is a list of more freelance sites - these are not recommendations as I have not checked all of them out - most of the bigger ones are well known and widely used. Some are them are more specialist (web design, programming etc) but others have projects which cover just about anything.....

MSE_Martin wrote:One quick note on website creating (something i know a wee bit about).
The truth behind it is that to make a website work you need content. Having revenue generating features is fine, but they generate revenue from users, so you need those too. So if you're creating a website ask yourself
1. Who is going to use it
2. Why are they going to use it
3. What will i have on my site that will draw people to it
4. How will i tell people about it

Your website is inspirational, but don't you need some investment up front to make a good website? Particularly if you are not computer minded like me. How do you go about getting the investment?0 -
jen44 wrote:As a new user (and as someone who is keen to make money on top of my monthly salary!) I have found this thread very interesting.
I wanted to know if anyone knew of any other ways to make money? I have considered using a website like https://www. sweetmoneypublications.co.uk (or .com I can't remember). These sorts of websites allow people to make money at home by working for 1 - 2 hours a night by putting letters in envelopes, doing data inputting or other none-taxing activities. Apparently you can earn another £500 a month at the very least, which would go towards mortgage and monthly bills etc.,
I am keen to do this and wondered if anyone knew of any legal sites, or indeed any sites which actually worked that I or anyone else could use? Does any one know if sweetmoneypublications is any good?!?!
Thank you and any help would be really appreciated!!

I detect a little bit of :spam: going on here. You posted about this site and everyone slated it in another thread just 2 days ago. Why advertise the website address again? and 2 adverts for this trash in 2 posts - must be spam

You do not need that much investment to get websites going, just a little knowledge... see

wanna-be-mortgage-free wrote:Well after becoming debt free at the end of 2006, I've now moved to trying to be mortgage free so came across to this board
So the following is what I have started to do to try and get extra money each month to over pay the mortgage.
1. Sell on ebay
2. Typing from home in the evenings (transcriptions of interviews etc)
3. Book-keeping from home (just a few hours a week)
4. Kleeneze
5. Avon (decided if I was going door-to-door with Kleeneze why not Avon too!)
6. I've been offered a cleaning job but have decided to turn it down cos I literally have no more hours left in the day!!
Of course this is all on top of my day job
Up to today's date this little lot has brought me in £600 extra this month. Not a bad start I'd say.
Do you mind me asking who do you go through for Book keeping or is it self generated?0 -

Just curious but Typing from home? Sounds silly question but what do you do for this and how did you get involved?0 -
Anyone know if it's worth attempting to give tuition in computer languages ? I'm thinking of C++, Fortran , Pascal and others. Don't want to advertise if it isn't the sort of thang that people consider worthwhile.0
