  • I cant really understand how the site works, as its other people's books that you are selling. According to the front page, you dont pay any costs, it appears you dont have to write any books, and somehow you get 70% of the profit.

If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Is this your Ebay name...if not what is it??
I am an ebook seller, as I mentioned earlier. I haven't been doing it for very long but am well on my way to becoming a powerseller. I sold 106 ebooks last month and made a profit of £240. I am very pleased with that and hope to top that this month. I have to say that I have read various people's advice and bought many ebooks about selling ebooks on ebay and I would disagree with a lot of what they say. A lot of people sell the ebooks that are very common, that are sold by about 100 people and therefore the most you can get is 50p from them. I work very hard to find unique ebooks so that I can capitalise on the lack of competition and charge slight higher prices. My cheapest ebook is actually £1.49 and my most expensive is £4.99. The great thing is that besides the ebay and paypal costs it is all profit as you don't have to buy inventory, the ebooks sit on your machine and you email them out to your customers, you can even automate outlook to send them automatically.

I would suggest when you are starting out, start slowly, have a look round for some unique ebooks, the best place on ebay to look for them, other than typing ebook into the search is the category: everything else> information products > information services
I look there for new ideas. Then buy a few ebooks, list them, play around with the marketing and you should be able to work it out. If you need anymore guidance I can recommend planetsms as a powerseller who is very helpful. I bought all his ebooks and a ready made website, his website for members which has every ebook that is updated with new ones daily and a chat forum.

Good luck and let me know if you have any specific questions

  • Register to take part in discussion groups and interviews with Saros Research - and get £30-£50 (sometimes much more!) for a couple of hours each time you take part!

See my post on the referrers' board here.

    Money Man Steve

I have just done some Saros research - the money received worked out at over £10 per hour (even taking into account travelling time). I googled Saros - so I didnt use this link - but not sure that this will make any difference to what you get offered. I live close to London so have been offered loads since I registered - this was the first I could do. Seems that you can only do them every six months but as I am not looking to make this my regular income then this is not important.

We were well treated including a nice lunch, and on the whole the day was interesting. I would certainly do again, and would recommend.

Ive done Saros before 50 quid for an hour and a half talking about washing powder adverts. Theyve set up a yahoo group now I found on my email, but TBH i cant be doing with adding myself into it as I have far too many emails on my yahoo from freecycle as it is! Is anyone on the yahoo group for it here?

Ive been selling bits and pieces on ebay, but really need asecond income preferably from home, I just cant do late nights with the bar work as Ive been a bit unwell recently and fatigue is one of the side effects.

Im with pinecone research and yougov as well, but not getting much payout from these at the moment, Thanks for all the other recommendations for sites, Ill investigate those too!!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • Hello all,

The exact thing that I am after is something along the lines of envelope stuffing / addressing etc.

Doesn't seem to come up in discussion on this thread.... any ideas?

    Thanks,

If anyone is fairly competant at using graphics programs like paint shop pro and photoshop, you can do designs for t shirts and sell them via CafePress. You set up your shop using their template and add it to their directory. Or you can set up your own website and sell via there. If you want to try it out it costs nothing to set up and start selling. Most of my designs are slogans which just involved me typing them into PSP and chosing a nice copyright free font. I have made $300 over 2 years from this with little effort. If someone has some talent I'm sure they'll make much more.

You are selling mainly to a US market.

    http://www.cafepress.com

It is completely free to set up, unless you want to pay for a premium account. Once I had sold enough from my free account I used the money to pay for the fees for the premium account and I am now selling loads more.

I haven't explained it very well so take a look for yourself. :o

PM me if you are nice and want to use my affiliate link. ;)

I'm afraid I haven't scrolled through 17 pages of text to see if this has been mentioned before so please forgive me if I'm repeating anything ... but I sometimes work as an internet researcher for a company called AQA. Basically, people text in questions (to 63336) and AQA text them back with the answer. It is self-employed work, you can log in whenever you want, although there are obviously more questions to answer in the evenings and especially at weekends (when people are in the pub). If you want to see the kind of thing they do, they are behind the Mr Know-it-all features on MTV.

It isn't highly paid and they do expect very high standards, but if you get on to their books it is a way to earn a bit extra. They advertise vacancies here http://www.issuebits.com/ although there don't seem to be any at the moment. Be warned though, their selection process is pretty tough, so I know more people who have been turned down than have been accepted.

I sell bits and bobs on ebay, but the money goes towards the items we need to buy to finish our house off as we are on a strict budget for the refurb finding items to fit in with what we like and what we have budgeted for is hard work but really rewarding when you find what you want (a beautiful roll top bath £60 instead of the budget of £250).
trying to find other lines of making some money so we can put it towards our mortgages, designing and fitting a bathroom and a kitchen for a friend, no payment but getting some tickets to the beautiful game (rugby) and wine, not much help but hoping the experience will help in the long term as i think this is where definaltey my dh talents really lie.
any other ideas would be really appreciated though at the moment i think time is the most precious commodity i have and not sure i want to tade what little i have for overpayments on the mortgage

Another way to make money on ebay is to use a dropshipping company. The one I use and would highly recommend is: https://www.theselect.co.uk

Basically what you do is pay a lifetime membership fee of £50, then you become an agent. You can then sell all the items they have but you are charged a wholesale rate rather than the retail rate. That way you can sell it for a mark-up and pocket the difference. The best thing about it is they ship the goods to your customers for you and you only have to buy an item once you have sold it, you don't have any limits or restrictions, you can buy and sell as much or as little as you want. To give an example:

I sold a husky faux fur throw on ebay and it ended yesterday. It ended at £20 plus £5 postage, the buyer paid me straight away with paypal. I then went onto theselect website and purchase the 'throw' at £14 plus £5 for postage, I paid them with paypal, entered my customers postal address and was emailed this morning to say that it has been dispatched. I therefore made £6 for that item however there will be about £1 of ebay/paypal fees so technically I made £5. It was so simple and easy and I am very happy with the service.

If you check out the website it explains exactly what they do and what their service to you will be. If you are interested in selling on ebay this is a great low risk way of doing it as you don't need to store any stock, or post items or anything. Feel free to PM me if you want further guidance, also I can get you £5 off the membership fee if you contact me.

I hope this helps someone, I am making a nice tidy some doing this. Good luck!
