    In the past year:
-selling parts from scrapped cars, make about £700 on the parts for a reasonably specced model
-redrilling large brake discs to make conversion kits
-selling random things I own on Ebay (bike parts, books, furniture, CDs, videos)
-car servicing for friends neighbours etc
-delivering heavy items for Ebay. Get paid to go on a scenic drive ( a hobby).
-selling things for other people on Ebay
    Happy chappy
  • When I was at uni the police were at the fresher's fair and I registered with them for ID parades. They took a polaroid of me and a note of my height, build and email. They send an email when you are needed and at most it took an hour or so and paid £20, and no, you don't get arrested if you are chosen
I imagine that most police stations need a variety of people, not just students so worth asking.
The only thing to be prepared for is turning up and finding a bunch of people that look just like you in reception which was pretty odd.

take a look at <URL Removed by Board Guide - Referral links are not permitted on the main boards>

    try the weeks free trial

he simply reccomends this to fellow students, they get their own domain name and also great potential for earning money too which helps their cash flow too.

    good luck

Yet another pyramid scheme - this is actually a personal referral presumably from the original poster, David Gatenby. Avoid.

Being bilingual, I do translations on the side. I've never advertised for this, but various market research companies (i did 1 day work at a company once on the phones, but hated it) have phoned me and they've also passed my number on to others. I think there's a shortage in general, as they've contacted me for other languages, for which I've referred them to my european friends.

I have tried various part time jobs which required no qualifications:
Garden centres often employ seasonal workers (March to June) potting up seedlings (bedding plants) part time for around minimum wage. If you are green fingered and have greenhouse space you can do this yourself and sell the seedlings, also cuttings from plants like fuchsias.
Fruit farms which do pick your own used to pay people to pick fruit for them, pay by the bucket/punnet on a turn up and do as much as you like basis. Not sure this is now allowed but worth a try.
Sometimes local free papers have adverts for people to distribute yellow pages or Ikea catalogues - when I did it they paid 9p a catalogue about 3 years ago.
Tried "work from home" writing envelope labels (they sent part of a phone directory) but all were rejected as not tidy enough. My sister had a similar problem with painting ceramic models (she is artistic). Don't touch these things, they are a scam.
Since discovered Kleeneze which suits me down to the ground - flexible because I'm my own boss, interesting because you meet lots of people, and pays reasonably (21% of what you sell plus bonuses). I regularly earn over £100 a week part time and the longer you do it for the less time it takes. (PM me for more info if interested or visit https://www.kleeneze.net to find a local distributor to contact).
Also earn odd few quid by washing horse rugs for friends (laundries can charge upto £10/rug so I do it for 5) but you have to have a larger than average washing machine and be prepared for the horsy smell!
  • Loving this thread - keep the ideas coming. I think I could probably retire at 30 if I took up every idea here!

I find that I can sell right old tosh on ebay. Things that are being thrown away at work. Admittedly, I work in an industry where associated items are popular - aviation - but it still amazes me that I can take an old pilots map out of a bin, take some good piccies of it and flog it off! I cut up my 2005 calendar recently and have so far had 3 bids on the pictures from it! Okay, so its only a couple of quid, but every penny counts! Plus I'm recycling, which I'm a big fan of!

Incidently, is there any money to be made from recycling?

There are a few mentions on this thread about ebooks. I have come across a website called https://www.yourfreebookstore.com which appears be linked to ebay. It says that if you fill in your name, address, telephone and email they will set up a website for you and sell ebooks on it and you get 70% of the profits for doing absolutely nothing. No set up costs, nothing at all. This sounds far too good to be true - has anyone any experience of this, is it a con, and if so how do you go about selling ebooks the "right" way?
