Can I join the weight loss club?

I've weighed myself today I'm 13st and only 4ft 11. My BMI is over 36!! _pale_

Does anyone know any good websites were I can enter what I've eaten and record my weight loss?

I really need to do something about my weight.

Hi Nicci - you are very welcome to join our merry band: we've all felt the same horrid feeling at realising how heavy we have got. The support here is phenominal as well as fun. Someone will be along soon I am sure to point you in the direction of websites. How do you hope to tackle your weight ? - peeps use all differnt means here, though all generally healthy eating based. I did it through sw and the support here, others do ww or cal count, some exercise some don't for illness reasons. Portion control is a good starting place (use a smaller plate helps) but allowing your self treats - you have to have a sustainable plan that suits you and your lifestyle. Join in as much as you can for maximum benefit
Missyg - sorry to here about your bad day. Never very nice to see your kids ill. Hope he picks up all of a sudden like they can do.
Vix - hug.gif it'll soon be over hun xx
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

I can't really afford to go to a proper club suchas ww or sw or rc. I was hoping I could eat healthily and watch my calorie intake. I think eating about 3000 calories day....... I have a very sweet tooth :o

I have an MOt check booked with my doctor on Friday so I will ask him for some more information on a healthy diet. I know where I need to cut down its just doing it now.

That's a very good start nicci - and there is no need to belong to a club - loads of peeps here are going it alone, except you're not with us here. Plenty are calorie counting so you'll be in good company

i dont go to a club nicci. We have weekly weigh ins on a wednesday so it is a bit like a virtual weight watchers :p

infact, its better here cos all these guys are seasoned pros, loads of maintainers and people who have been changing their eating life styles for some time now.

There is certainly no need to join a club or pay any money to lose weight. I've lost over 2lb each week since January and it hasn't cost me anthing.

You can retrain your taste buds so you no longer need sweet foods. I can eat rhubarb now unsweetened. It may take a little while to get used to not using sugar or sweeteners but if you give up eating refined carbohydrates you will not be craving food so will find it much easier.

If you listen to The Quality of Calories: What Makes Us Fat and Why Nobody Seems to Care you will see that most of what our health professionals have been telling us about weight loss and healthy eating is based on dogma and not science. Gary Taubes book The Diet Delusion: Challenging the Conventional Wisdom on Diet, Weight Loss and Disease
lists the recent science and explains how this has been misinterpreted by health professionals.
My experience over the last few months shows he is absolutely correct.
I eat more calories each day than my body requires.
I do not exercise at all.
I am losing weight every week and not by counting calories and not by exercising.
I just don't eat foods that raise my insulin levels and enable fat storage.
By keeping my body using ketones (as a result of burning fat in place of glucose) I am losing surplus calories down the loo.
This is the plan I've been using.. but there are plenty of other low carb plans and lots of support here.

Please can someone explain this to me. How can I put weight on overnight? I went to bed last night and thought I'd have a sneaky peak at my weight. Was very pleaseed as I'd lost over a pound, but just to make sure weighed myself twice - same each ttime. I then go to bed and have nothing to eat or drink during the night. This morning so pleased with myself at the loss decide to show OH but this time II'm heavier . I've seemed to put on the pound and a bit I had 'lost' the night before. Now unless there is a fat fairy doing the rounds at night (I'll kill the cow if I meet her 'cause she must like my house) I can't see why this has happened. I knoiw weight goes on as well as off but overnight? I need an explanation to stop me getting depressed!

My guess would have been dehydration overnight

I usually weigh myself before bed, then again when I wake up. More out of interest than anything, I always lose overnight, but it varies how much. I always weigh myself twice when I get up to make sure the figure is accurate.
